Giraffes- you gotta love these guys!

This is a card I made for my WONDERFUL hubby for our 5th anniversary.

I found this digital image online and thought it would be the perfect image for an anniversary card.  I loved the way their necks formed a heart shape.

I colored the image with Blendabilites markers (LOVE THEM!!!) and mounted it on a Wild Wasabi card base.

Aren't they cute!

Anniversary Card

Today I wanted to share with you, a beautiful card we received for our 5th anniversary last week.

It was designed by Carole Anderson- one of my students, my friend, and also my mother-in-law.

Here it is:

What I Love:

1.  The attention to detail- when we got married our colors were red, white and black.  The theme of our wedding was intertwined hearts.  For me....that is what makes this card so special....the attention to details that matter to the recipients.

2.  The  glittery dazzling details (stickles) she applied to the textured hearts.  LOVE IT!

3.  It is a gate-fold card.....LOVE IT!

4.  Layers- you just gotta love a card with layers.

Thanks again Carole for the beautiful card....and I hope her hard work inspires my readers.

Beautiful Bunch Embossed Thank You....

This card was a fluke.

When I was designing it (at the trailer- so excuse the retired products please) ....I was going for a white on white card.

I embossed the card stock, and planned on adhering it to a white card base and using white ribbon. I quickly realized it was going to be a flop.

So, I grabbed a sponge and some Raspberry Ripple Ink to see if I could fix it somehow.

This is the result.....not bad.  I inked the de-bossed side....not bad.

We made this in my July Card Class.

This is such an easy card to make....and can be used for a variety of occasions and decorated to be given to a girl, a guy, or a child.

Here is a view of the inside:

 Product Supply List

Zig Zag Embossing Folder#133738 $9.95

Basic Metal Button#133319 $ 8.95

Bermuda Bay Card Stock 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2" ##131197 $8.50
Basic Black Card Stock 4 7/8" x 4" #121045 $8.50
Hello Honey Card Stock 1" x 5" #133678 $8.50
Designer Series Paper 3/4" x 5"
Whisper White Card Stock 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" #100730 $9.25

Instructions

1 Take card base and on one end, about half an inch in from the edge, and centered on panel, punch with the Word Window Punch. This will form the lock for the tab.

2.  Now close your card and take a pencil and lightly mark the ends of the slit through the punch you just made in step one.  This will give you the guidelines for where to punch to make your tab.

3.  Now you are going to remove a piece from each side of the front panel to form the tab.  Take the Word Window Punch and punch along the front panel edge, lined up with one of the pencil markings...punch and you will see how you are formed the first half of the tab.  Repeat on other side.

4.  Now take your scissors and square off the tab.  It should fit into the slot perfectly and now you have the closure for your card completed.

Note:  If you are worried do a test run on a piece of copy paper so you can "see how it works".  I promise, once you do it once, you will say "how easy is that!"

5.  Take black card stock and run through the Big Shot with the zig zag embossing folder. Adhere to card front.

6.  Adhere dsp to yellow card stock and adhere to card front.

7.  Stamp greeting on white card stock and cut out using Starburst Framelit Dies and Big Shot.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.

8.  Add bakers twine to button and adhere to card front with glue dots.

Now for the inside.   If you have the slit punch you can use it to punch the slits to hold your gift card.  If you do not have the punch, just use a piece of designer series paper and some sticky strip and form a pocket on the inside of the card.

Easy peasy!

Hope you enjoy this tutorial.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

The Cutest Blue Bomber Fan....

We spent the weekend at the trailer, and on Friday night we watched the Winnipeg Blue Bombers game against Montreal.

This is my sweet girl, Dixie sitting on her cushion on the deck, watching the game. (or was she watching the inside of her eyelids,  until I cheered to loudly)

It was a LONG game with way to many penalties... and not near enough protection of our quarterback...but we won again- YEAH Bombers!  Had me sitting on the edge of my seat for this game.

It was funny you could hear cheers all over the park when we scored....guess we have LOTS of  Blue Bomber fans.

Sorry no cards or scrap layout today.....come back tomorrow to see the first card from my July Card Class.

What Do You Get.....

What do you get when you combine these four items?

Super AWESOME cards!

How you ask?

Well it is a twist on the Black Magic Technique using Blendabilities!

Simply stamp any image with versamark....cover with white embossing powder and set with heat tool.  Then grab your Blendailities and color away!  The possibilities are endless!

Line images work best, in my opinion.....but give it a try and see what you come up with.

Just remember you need to use dark card stock for best results.

Happy coloring!

Here are some great samples :

Project Life- Storage and Tips

At first, I was VERY skeptical about Project Life and the whole pocket page movement.  Boy was I wrong!

I decided to give it a try, when Stampin' Up! recently joined with Becky Higgins and we added Project Life Kits, Accessories and supplies in our catalog....and I am HOOKED!

Making a Project Life pocket page layout can be so fast and easy; or you can make your layouts as embellished and detailed as you wish.

This is a GREAT option for me and anyone who has a busy lifestyle.

Today I wanted to share with you, how I store my Project Life supplies:

I purchased one of these Iris Photo Storage cases from Michael's.

It comes with the 4x6 photo storage boxes....and since the largest piece for the Project Life pocket pages is 4x6...this was a no-brainer for me.

I have 4x6 cardstock, 4x6 Project Life cards, and each case holds tons of the 3x4 cards as well.  All contained in a suitcase that is easy to store!

Also, I wanted to share some tips and tricks I found online for Project Life:

-Use labels, tabs or clips and extend them outside of the pocked to add texture, dimension and interest.

-Put alphabet titles on the ouside of the pockets

- Apply a coat of acryllic paint around photo edges to add texture and draw more attention to the photos

-If an element is too small for your pocket, layer it on a photo or a card.

-Add ticket stubs, receipts and memorabilia to your pocket pages

-Use strong adhesive when attaching embellishments to the outside of your pocket pages

-Die cut shapes, then embellish them, layer them and add to your pages for interest.

-Try stamping on your photos.

-Faux stitching ( or real stitching) adds great interest to a pocket page

-Use magazine clippings, paint chip samples, advertisements, newspaper or download and print ephemera from the internet

- Mix up page sizes.  Pocket pages range in sizes from 4x4 to 12x12....mix them up in the same album.

- Add washi tape

-Fill a pocket with sequins or buttons for a bright spot of interest.
