Life Is Good. . . Clean and Simple card. . .

Last week I made this card using up some scraps of Pacific Point and Melon Mambo that I had laying on my desk top.

This was very quick and easy to make.  The greeting is from the Project Life Remember This stamp set.

Monochromatic and coloring with white craft ink. . .

Ok...well this card is definitely out of my comfort zone!

I have seen so many cards on the internet using the monochromatic water
coloring and adding the white craft ink, so I wanted to give it a try.

In my opinion this card is a FAIL, but there are things I do like about it that I wanted to share as well as a couple tips and some things NOT to do.

So I am going to enocourage you to give it a try using some of these tips I found in the making of this card.

Things I like:

- tiny leaves and flower buds
- stamped image
-color
- greetings
- shadow effect under the bloom

Things I dislike:

-large leaves- they just look distorted....way too much white craft ink....in hind sight I would have left them just water colored the plum shade

- white craft ink on the large bloom- it is wayyyy too overpowering....I learned that a little goes a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNG way when it comes to the white ink.

-I would suggest forget the water when it comes to white ink....next time I would choose a very tiny brush and use a dry brush painting technique

- Another tip when water coloring on regular card stock- the card stock will "pil" (break down) very very easily if it is over wet.  Be very careful.

I tried this on other colors of card stock and they were much harder to use than the Perfect Plum.

So my friends, check out other samples on the internet and give this technique a try.....I am going to try again......will let you know how it turns out.

Bold Butterfly Framelits and glittery goodness . . .

I cased this card from a similar card I found on Pinterest.

It turned out. . . ok. . . definitely lacking in my opinion.

I am not a fan of the big butterfly....needs more pizzazz....if I did it again instead of water coloring it I would use the Watercolor Wings stamp set....it would set it off perfectly I think.

And perhaps instead of the silver thread (too tiny in this application) some leftover silver cording might be better

Regardless... it is an idea. . . and ideas must be shared.

Best Thoughts. . .

I was playing with paper on the weekend and decided it was high time I used a cheap single stamp I purchased at a big box store.

I loved the mason jar image the moment I saw it and just had to have it.

Well it has been sitting on the shelf by my desk for weeks....high time indeed!

I used some retired Stampin' Up! items, some current Stampin' Up! items, and my copic markers.

I find coloring sooooooo relaxing.
