Wild about Washi. . . and ANOTHER challenge. . .

To say that I am wild about washi tape is an understatement. I ADORE this stuff!

Features and Benefits

- quick and easy to use
- repositionable
-inexpensive
- easy to store
-comes in a zillion patterns and colors
- if you purchase from Stampin' Up! has beautiful color coordination with our other products.

Washi tape is a hot trend for card makers and scrapbookers alike.

Today we are going to explore some sample scrapbook  layouts I found on Pinterest that I feel have beautifully shown the versatility of this product.

Hopefully this blog post will inspire you to get out your washi tape and create!

First up, here is a super simple idea for making a flag banner with washi to attach to add interest to your scrapbook page:

Or why not try this super simple but oh so colorful idea of applying washi to one side of page a a backdrop for the photos:

Or how about this super creative idea of drawing a shape on white card stock and using inks and washi tape to embellish the shape as a backdrop:

Here the designer used washi tape strips for a mat layer and added embellishments and photos on top:

This is a super simple but eye catching layout (and my personal favorite) .  The designer used washi tape to make a border around the page....love the colors and how the frame pops:

Now here is another cool idea.  The designer used washi tape to create a grid type backdrop. . . LOVE IT:

Now this sample, the designer used strips of dsp....but you could just as easily use washi tape....and I think it would be better because washi is self adhesive....super cute layout!

And how about this genius idea....the designer used washi tape and candy dots to fill in the white space and totally compliment the rest of the layout:

Here the designer used washi to not only add horizontal stripes across the layout but also to attach the photo mats for added interest:

And finally....stars and stripes.....simple yet oh so effective for this lovely Christmas layout:

Hopefully some of these Pinterest layouts using washi tape in various ways have inspired you to grab your washi tape and get busy.

Hmmmm that sounds like a challenge.....there we go.....this weeks Challenge is to create with washi tape- cards, scrapbook layouts, whatever.  Remember to send me a picture so I can share it on my blog to help inspire others.

Here is a bright and cheery card I made last week as well.

It features two of the new In- Colors....Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder.

I used the Mixed Borders Stamp set found on page 123.....it is easy to miss this beauty....but you have to check it out....you can stamp the border and there is a space left open in the center for you to add one of the greetings....it is an AWESOME set!

The flowers are from the bitty punch pack and the butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and I used the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

World Card Making Day English

Joseph's Coat Technique- Vintage Leaves and Best Birds. . .

Here is a fun card I made last week while playing in my craft studio.

I have done the Joseph's Coat Technique before.....and I absolutely love it....so I thought I would give it another go- and chose colors that are absolutely not in my "normal" color field.

I chose the Vintage Leaves stamp set for my images and the Best Birds stamp set for the greeting.

All were stamped on Whisper White card stock 4" x 5 1/4"  using Versa-mark ink. I then heat embossed the images using white embossing powder.

Next I grabbed a couple of ink pads- Bermuda Bay and Perfect Plum and sponged on some ink-randomly all over the card stock

A Perfect Plum ribbon for embellishment along with a few Fancy Frost Sequins finished the art piece.  I then mounted it on a standard card base 8 1/2" x 5 /2" scored at 4 1/4" in coordinating Perfect Plum card stock.

Want to learn other great card making techniques?....join the girls in my Techniques Card Making Class....next class is Thursday October 20 @ 6:30- reserve your seat by calling 204-232-7744 or email me shel@shelscreativecorner.com

September Girls Night Out- Make and Takes. . .

I hosted my first Girls Night Out Class on Saturday September 17. A GREAT bunch of girls attended and we had a smashing time!

Everyone brought something to contribute to a potluck supper....and boy oh boy was it good....we had Taco Soup, Salmon Croissant Sandwiches, Greek Salad, Chicken Croissant Sandwiches, Broccoli Salad and Wildberry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream- geesh what a feast!

The girls got to play with a bunch of my retired stamps, dies and embossing folders and made cards.  They each got a gift bag of goodies, a treat, and did two make and takes.  These are the make and takes that they made:

The top photo is a full sized card made with the Apple of My Eye stamp set and Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I taught them the Reverse Masking Technique-speckled pears with no speckles outside the pear....cool eh?

The bottom photo is mini cards made with the Lots of Love Hostess stamp set.

I decided to take the fun craft time to scrapbook.  I will share the pages with you in a later post.

If you would like to join us for our next Girls Night Out on Saturday October 15 contact me to reserve your seat...204-232-7744 or email shel@shelscreativecorner.com.....remember reserve early as seating is limited!

Life is a beautiful ride. . .

Last weekend I was cleaning my stamp studio, and doing some reorganizing, gathering retired products to sell and I came across this card that I made a while back, that I had forgotten to post.

It is a super simple card that says it all.  I used the Beautiful Ride stamp set and the You're Sublime stamp set.  I colored the images with copic markers and sponged the ground and background areas.
