01.26.2018...Happy Wishes and Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks

Did you ever sit down to design a card....with a definite plan in mind ...only to have it fail miserably?  This happens to me A LOT!

Well, today's card is the end result of an epic fail.  The card I was going for was a bust so I flipped over the paper and opted for the other side.

As I was staring at the blank paper wondering what to do....I spotted my new Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks found on page 13 of the Annual Catalog.  I grabbed the mask and some ink and a sponge and started sponging the beautiful floral background.  Next I grabbed an aqua painter and my Lemon Lime Twist ink pad.  I carefully water-colored the white spaces around the flowers.

The greeting was stamped with the Sale-A-Bration free set called Happy Wishes found on page 19 of the flyer.

Next I colored in the images on the greeting with my Stampin' Write Markers.

I punched out the greeting with my Everyday Label Punch ( carryover item from the Holiday Catalog page 12 item #144668) and backed the greeting with black card stock and a piece of Lemon Lime Twist 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon found on page 198 of the annual catalog.

1.20.2018...Scrapbook Saturday...

I was catching up on my scrapbooking ...I have sooo many photos that are just in boxes and I came across this photo that put a big smile on my face and took me on a trip down memory lane.  Here is the story:

In December 2013 I flew my eldest son, Joey to Winnipeg for the Christmas holidays.  I did not tell my youngest son, Jesse, who lives here; as I wanted to surprise him.

Joey flew in on Friday night which was Christmas eve....I had called Jesse and told him that we had bought one big gift for his family that year and that we would drop it off after their kids were in bed.  Jesse said no problem.

Problem....Joey's flight was late.  Oh my! Stress!

Jesse called me at 10:40 pm and said Mom....are you coming tonight?  I told him hang tight....we got busy but were on our way.

So we flew across the city from the airport and arrived at Jesse's at 11 pm.

Joey was in the backseat of my car and I had put a dark colored towel in the window to block Jesse's view.  Mike and Joey stayed in the car and I went in the house and asked Jesse to come out and help Mike carry the gift in the house as it was too heavy for me.

So we walk across the lawn and I open the hatch back and Jesse looks in to see his brother sitting there with a HUGE grin on his face.

Well the surprise was a HUGE hit ....there were lots of tears and hugs.

This photo above is a couple days later....this is a pic of all our boys together on Boxing Day.

Sweet Memories!

01.11.2018...Bird Banter Birthday...

So today's post features the new Bird Banter stamp set found on page 42 of the 2018 Occasions Catalog.

This is such a fun and versatile stamp set that  is great for many different occasions.  I love the playful greetings and the cute images that are so easy to color!

I messed up and got a smudge of ink on my paper so I had to grab my trusty (retired) spritzer tool and make some splotches all over the background to hide my oops.

Here is a pic of the stamp set:
The designer series paper is the new Tutti Fruiti 6x6 DSP Stack found on page 29 of the Occasions catalog.

01.10.2018...More Brusho Fun....Magical Mermaid...

Ok....I am back today with some more Brusho Crystal ink fun!

So this time I took a piece of watercolor paper and wet the paper with a water spritzer.  Then I sprinkled on some of the Prussian Blue crystals.  I carefully spritzed a little more to make the ink move more. I am going for a deep ocean look...I wanted a combination of light and dark.  Once I was happy I dried with the heat tool completely.

Then I added a wee bit of yellow and some more blue.  Then I lightly misted with water to activate the ink crystals.  I set this aside to dry.

Next I grabbed my Magical Mermaid stamp set:

Next I grabbed a scrap of water color paper and stamped the mermaid in Archival Black ink.  Then I colored the mermaid and fussy cut her out.  I used my Wink of Stella glitter pen to give her tail a shimmery glimmery look:

Once my background was dry I took a paper towel and gently brushed off any loose crystals.

Next I grabbed my Versamark Ink and Black Embossing powder and added the greeting.

Then I cut the background to the size I wanted and mounted it on a card base.

The final step was to adhere my mermaid to the background:

Hope you enjoyed my mini photo tutorial.....and get yourself some Brusho....you're gonna LOVE it!  See ya!
