DEC 4, 2019....SPECIAL SURPRISE...FROM STAMPIN' UP! CANADA!

After a long ( not so great) day at my day job yesterday, I got home to find a card in my mailbox.

That in itself, put an instant smile on my face.

I could not wait to open it...and this is what I found!

It was from Dale Hampshire, head of Stampin' Up! Canada.

What a wonderful surprise!  Nice to know you are seen, you are appreciated and valued.

Thank you Dale!

The bonus is that he used a stamp set that I had totally overlooked!
How is that possible!  LOL.

It is called For The Win and is found on page 58 of the annual catalog. Here is an image of that set:

And why not turn this blog post into a stamping tutorial for you....here we go:

The card base is made with Crumb Cake Card Stock and he stamped the flags using Whisper White ink.

Next he punched a starburst using the Starburst Punch found on page 186 item#143717  stamped the confetti image with Crushed Curry Ink and adhered it to the card front.

Next he punched a classic label with the Classic Label Punch found on page 186 item #141491 and stamped it with the star stamp and Bermuda Bay Ink

Next he stamped the greeting on Real Red Cards Stock with Versamark Ink and heat set it with  White Embossing Powder.

Next he made a Bermuda Bay Flag using the Banner Triple Punch found on page 186 item #138292

Next he stamped the trophy stamp on Crushed Curry Card Stock with Crushed Curry Ink and fussy cut it.

The final step is to adhere all the pieces to the front of the card and, of course, add some greetings and images to the inside.

This is a WONDERFUL surprise....means a lot....and now I "have to have" this stamp set!!!!

Ok....now this has inspired me to challenge you....make a card....send it to someone for no reason....let them know they are valued, that you care, that you appreciated them.

Go....do it....make someone feel special.....put a smile on someone's face!

DEC 2,2019....SO THIS HAPPENED...FUNKY FUN TECHNIQUE...

I was playing in my craft room on the weekend and I wanted to try a technique I found on the internet.

The original idea came from Kristina Werner here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThessLt2KOY

Now my card is much different than hers...hers is super simple and clean....mine is bright and funky...but the tree concept is still the same.

I chose to use glossy white cardstock.  I masked off the area for the tree using low tack tape and had it taped to a hardboard.

I chose assorted blue and green tones for my watercolor paints.  I painted stripes in varying directions using a round brush.

I dried each color with my heat tool prior to applying the next color.

I carefully removed the painter's tape keeping it flat to the paper as I removed it, however, I had one tear in the bottom right corner....so I needed a fix....so.....I used a funky corner punch for a unique look.

The blue adhesive star I found in my stash of goodies and looks fab!

The card base and ribbon are both Granny Apple Green.

The greeting is stamped with Stazon ink and is from the Elfie stamp set.
