16.06.2018...Shel's Saturday Scoop...Did You Know?

 Happy Saturday!

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

For today's Saturday Scoop I have three DID YOU KNOW segments....hope you learn something new.  Enjoy!

1. did you know?
For anyone familiar with the Big Shot, you know that there are different types of dies.

With the new annual catalog, Stampin' Up! decided to create a system that will help you more easily navigate how to build your sandwiches for different types of dies in the Big Shot.
There is a color-coded key on page 215 that details the sandwich techniques needed for each die type.

Below is a quick peek at this invaluable reference...I suggest you print it and keep it with your Big Shot for quick reference.

MONOCHROME: new trend alert
Here are three cards from Pinterest, that, as you can see, are mostly monochromatic.

And as an added bonus they are created with three of our new colors:    Lovely Lipstick, Highland Heather, and Mango Melody.
An easy way to show color’s impact on a project is to create a card that is mostly monochromatic. Why don't you try, just CASE it:  remake it with some of your favorite new colors using the same design and change out the stamps.

I would love to see what you come up with.

We have all admired and yes even gasped at the GORGEOUS designer series papers.  I especially LOVE the papers that look like photographs...they are so realistic. is a quick video that shows you how the designers actually make those papers for us:

10.6.2018...Scrapbook Saturday with Soul Scrappers Quest Challenge Layout....

I recently participated in a Vintage Vibe layout challenge over at the Soul Scrappers group.

They sent me some goodies, and the deal was that you had to use all the goodies they sent along with a black and white photo.

I received sequins, a doily, a wooden camera, a kraft flag, two girls, a kraft flag, a frame, a tag, a wooden element.

I found this photo of my sons great- grandparents on their Dads side of the family.  It fit the theme and the requirements.  Also, this was a great way to preserve the memories.

Neither of my sons met their great- great grandfather as he had passed before they were born.  But they both have vague memories of their great- great grandmother.

This is a great photo of them both.  I see where my father in law got his good looks from....he is the spitting image of his father, albeit more modern.
