And here are the two cards:

As you can see in the above sample there is plenty of room to attach a gift card!

Here is an alternate sample using the Taco Fiesta stamp set.., such a fun set!

Once again, lots of room for a gift card!

                                             How You Can Make It

Supplies:

Basic White card stock
Night of Navy card stock
Greatest Journey DSP
Greatest Journey Bundle
Adhesives
Scoreboard
Paper Trimmer
Stampin' Cut n Emboss machine
Layering Circles and Stylish Shapes dies
Night of Navy ink pad

Measurements:

Basic White (card base A) 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 score 4 1/4
Basic White (card base B) 4 1/2 x 8 1/2
Night of Navy (mat & die cut) 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
DSP (front) 4 x 5 1/4
DSP (inside card base A) 2@ 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
DSP (card base B) 4@ 2x 4 1/2
Basic White  (Belly Band)1x 8 1/2
Basic White 2-inch circle for greeting

Instructions:

  1. Fold the card base on the score line....(it is very important that you take the time to ensure this is perfectly straight and front and back are even) Burnish score line well
  2. Add DSP panels to the inside of the card.
  3. Die cut the stitched circle and the shapes from the middle of the Night of Navy mat.
  4. Add the DSP panel to the Night of Navy mat, then attach it to the card front.
  5. Score card base B at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 6 3/8
  6. Mark the card base B down 2 inches on one side.  Now put a mark and opposite top corner in the paper trimmer and slice off ( see video for how to do this)
  7. Now you have to decide how you want the internal panel to go....short to tall or tall to short.  Once you make that decision fold valley, mountain, valley.  ( It is VERY important that you make sure all panels are equal, and folds are square.
  8. Watch the video to see how to add DSP panels to your card. ( I used scenery DSP so you need to make sure your scene is in the right sequence before cutting anything)
  9. Embellish with die cuts
  10. Stamp the greeting on the Basic White circle and attach it to the Night of Navy stitched circle.
  11. Fold the belly band around the card as shown in the video and attach the circle to cover the gap.

Three Weekend Challenges!

This weekend I have three challenges for you....a color challenge, a tic-tac-toe challenge, as well as a sketch challenge!

First up is a sketch challenge.  Here is this week's inspiration sketch:

The second is a tic-tac-toe challenge:

The third is the color challenge.  Since these colors are retiring your challenge is to use a minimum of three of these colors on your card.  Black and white are also permitted.

Stampin’ Up! 2021-2023 In Colors

Tip of The Week- Brought To You By The Letter E. . .

I hope you got that Sesame Street giggle in my title....but seriously...read on to find out why the letter E is important when using your Mini Stampin' Cut n Emboss or your regular Stampin' Cun n Emboss machine. . .

SMALL BUT MIGHTY: HELPFUL USER TIPS FOR THE

MINI STAMPIN’ CUT & EMBOSS MACHINE

Some of you are asking why the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine is so tight. Fair question. Truth is, this makes the machine better. We know this is a bold statement, but we’re going to say it anyway: this is the strongest mini die-cutting/embossing machine on the market. This has everything to do with the tight fit at the opening. With it, you can count on cleaner cuts and deeper embossing.

Of course, we realize the tight design of the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine can create a slight learning curve when it comes to feeding the plates through, so we’ve compiled a list of helpful tips to try.

TIP 1: Think “E

When positioning your cutting plates and folders on the machine’s platform, create the shape of a capital letter E, with the top and bottom plates extending longer than the middle section (on the side that’s feeding into the machine).

Why E? The uneven placement allows the top and bottom plates to bend in slightly, giving the machine a better opportunity to grip the plates. The ends of the plates are beveled to help with the gripping and staggering your plates will allow for even more success when running your sandwich through the machine. When placing your dies or embossing folders in your sandwich, make sure to place them between the two beveled ends. Giving the bevel room to work will help ensure success. Your embossing folders are intentionally created to be slightly shorter than the plates, all for this very reason, but a little extra wiggle room is never a bad idea.

TIP 2: Stand n’ Crank

The lighter weight of the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine can cause it to feel less stable/anchored than the larger Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. If you’re experiencing machine movement with use, consider standing up to use the tool. The added leverage created in this position can make all the difference. Also, make sure you’ve placed your machine somewhere that will allow the feet to grip the surface during use.

TIP 3: Plate Play

If you find your plate placement isn’t cooperating, even with the “E” in effect, your machine simply has a really tight fit and this isn’t bad! But, if you’re struggling, you can try switching your base plate from the suggested Plate 1 to Plate 3. Users have reported that this slightest decrease in height and subsequent pressure can be just enough to make a difference. Making this exchange will not void the warranty, but there is a chance it could impact the quality of your cuts. Things to consider as you explore options and approaches.

FINAL THOUGHT

It’s worth mentioning that the tips outlined here also apply to the regular Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, making this a good message to both save AND share
