Carnival Treats! Some for the guys and some for the gals!

I decided to play with a stamp set that I have had in my stash for a while now that I had not inked yet.

It is the host set called Carnival Treats.  You can find this set on page 79 of the J2A Mini Catalog.

Here is the set:

I decided that I wanted to design my cards for guys, so I chose Basic Gray and Real Red for my Color Palette.  Here are my cards:

Finally, here are a couple of simple cards, geared towards the gals:

Ask me how you can get this host set.  😊

Creative Sketches With Shel- Sketch #1

Last night I started a new series called Creative Sketches With Shel.

This is a free online class where I will provide you with a sketch and the measurements.

Then I will make two sample cards....one following the sketch exactly and the second one stepping it up by adding extras.

Here is sketch #1:

Here are the cards:

This first card follows the sketch exactly.  I used the new online exclusives coming March 5th: Magnolia Mood Bundle and the Happy Little Things Bundle

My second card is stepped up a bit with the addition of DSP, changing the size of strips, adding texture, and changing shape of tag layers.

I used the A Little Latte Suite (Latte Love) from the Online Exclusives for this card.

FEBRUARY CHALLENGE...Spotlight Stamper!

Today my spotlight shines on the incredibly talented Carole Anderson.

Carole regularly contributes her work to inspire others.

So, for February, I decided to give her a personal challenge... and I would provide the supplies for her cards.

I gave her a kit of cardstock, DSP, ribbons, bling, etc, and challenged her to use what was in the kit (she could add to it) to make 10 cards.....3 of which had to be fun folds.

I was a little tricky because I sent her pastels....which is something she rarely uses...so it was a REAL challenge.

Here are her FABULOUS cards!  Let's start with the three fun folds:

Here is her WV Fold card: Flight and Airy DSP: Sale-A-Bration freebie:

Here is her Rocker Card: Detailed Dogwood: Sale-A-Bration Freebie:

Here is her Offset Gatefold Card: Nature's Prints page 24 Annual:

And now for her standard cards:

Layered Florals Tief and Paper Butterflies J2A Mini
Thoughtful Moments Hybrid TIEF:

Botanical Layers: Sale-A-Bration freebie plus in Annual catalog page 107:

Hey Chuck: page 49 Annual Catalog:

Softly Sophisticated Sale-A-Bration Freebie:

Stippled Roses: page 64 J2A Mini:

Join me in giving Carole a HUGE round of applause!

Technique Tuesday.....Soft Pastels...

Technique Focus
Have you added our Soft Pastels to your coloring repertoire?

These chalk pastels work with Sponge Daubers, Blending Brushes, and Water Painters to create a lovely, watercolor effect.

Our Concept Artist used them to color Basic White Cardstock embossed with the Painted Posies 3D Embossing Folder to create this beautiful floral card. First, she picked up color from the pastels with a Water Painter to color the raised images. Then she used chalk dust from the Night of Navy Soft Pastel, mixed it with water, and splattered the embossed cardstock for a distressed look. So pretty!

What can you make with these exciting coloring tools? Post your projects on social media and use the #SsoftPastels hashtag so we can see your work!

Soft Pastels are available in Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, and Poppy Parade.

Don't Miss Out...

Let's Get Flippy! Flowering Zinnia Suite from Online Exclusives....coming March 1st.

Good Morning Stampers!

Today I have a special card to share with you.

I attended a retreat where I learned how to make this flip card.  It is very cool so I had to share it with you.  This is what it looks like closed:

As you can tell, it is much larger than a standard card.  Here is what it looks like partially opened:

And here it is fully opened:

I used papers from the Rock and Roll and the Flowering Zinnia.

Unfortunately, I cannot share the dimensions for this card as it is not mine to give.  This was a paid retreat so the designs belong to the creator, and we were asked not to share them.
