Tuesday, April 20, 2021......Tuesday Mash-Up....Old Meets New....Beauty of the Earth, Rustic Retreat, Sailing Home.....

 Good Morning Stampers!

Last night I did a small unboxing video on my Facebook Business page.  I was showing a few extra products I received from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog that goes live in May.  (if you wish to see this video please go to Facebook and search @StampWithShel)

Today I wanted to share a card I made using some of those new products combined with some old (current) products.

One of the products showcased last night was the FABULOUS new Basic Borders dies.  This is a stand-alone set of dies that has six different dies!  These are all FABULOUS!

I will be honest with you, I immediately was excited about five of these dies....but one of those dies did not impress me much.  At first glance, it looked like an uneven blob.  I wondered what in the heck were they thinking when they made this die?!

Well....I quickly ate my words when I realized that this was a CLOUD DIE!  It can cut clouds but I wanted to use it with my blending brushes and Balmy Blue ink to create a cloud background.

Here is my card:

Check out that GORGEOUS background!!!  I absolutely love it!  And it is so very easy to make!

My card base is Evening Evergreen with a Real Red mat layer.

The tree with the two-step stamped tree is from the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G new suite found on page 10 called Beauty of the Earth. Check out the detail in the tree foliage....completely done with just the two-step stamp!

The deer is from the current stamp set called Rustic Retreat found on page 57 of the 2020-2021 current annual catalog.

The birds are from the current stamp set called Sailing Home found on page 31 of the 2020-2021 current annual catalog

The deer was colored with Soft Suede light and Crumb Cake light Stampin' Blends

The grass was hand drawn with Evening Evergreen Light and Soft Succulent light and dark Stampin' Blends.

Shel's FYI.....

Did you know there are five NEW stand-alone die sets in the new Annual Catalog?

They will work with tons of stamp sets....but are not bundled with any stamps:

Page 164 Picture This ( OMG fun!)

Page 163 Iconic (MUST have!)

Monday, April 19, 2020....Peony Fun Fold- Book Fold Card.....

Hey, Hey, Hey Stampers!  Happy Monday!

Today I am here to share with you two cards featuring the GORGEOUS Peony Garden Suite, found on page 84 of the 2020-2021 Annual catalog.

My cards feature the Peony Garden DSP as well as the stamps from this bundle.

Note that this stamp set is carrying over on page 73 of the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual catalog and the dies will be found on page 164 - unfortunately not as a 10% off bundle but as individual items.  So if you want this bundle and want to save 10% order now!

Also, the GORGEOUS DSP and the dainty diamonds embossing folder are not carrying over.....but the vellum square doilies, the elegant faceted gems, and the shimmer gray granite ribbon will be.

This stamp and die set are a beautiful addition to your collection.    You seriously do not want to miss out on this Gorgeous set.

Today's fun fold cards are called book fold.  Here are my cards:

APRIL 14, 2021.....TILE BACKSPLASH TECHNIQUE.....

Hey, Hey, Hey Stampers!  I am here today to share with you a technique that I discovered by accident.  Today my video and tutorial are featured over on the Split Coast Stampers site!

I got the idea for this card while taking part in a challenge and designing my card for that challenge. My idea involved weaving strips of paper to form a background. This is the card I made for the challenge:

So while I was making this I thought it would look really cool with plain card stock and if I could make it shiny to look like a tile backsplash…..so this is the card I came up with using ¼ inch strips of card stock:

And here is the card I made today for the video tutorial using ½ inch strips of card stock:

Here is a printed tutorial and there is a link to the video tutorial at the bottom of this post.

Supplies Needed:

½ inch strips of cardstock in color of your choice

Card Base:  8 ½ x 5 ½ scored 4 ¼

Mat Layer:  4 x 5 ¼

Card Liner:  4 x 5 ¼

Layering Circles Dies

Black, Blue, and White cardstock to cut circles

Sailing Home Stamp Set

Memento Black Ink

Stampin Blends (or other alcohol-based marker)

Bone Folder

Adhesives (Tombow, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals)

Die Cutting Machine

Silicone Mat

Versamark ink

Clear Embossing Powder

Heat Tool

Instructions:

1.      Fold card base on the score line and burnish flat with bone folder.

2.      Add white card liner to the inside of the card using Tombow adhesive.

3.      Add sticky strip (score tape) to the perimeter of mat layer and burnish with bone folder.

4.      Remove the paper backing off the top strip only.

5.      Add black strips of card stock across the panel – make sure you keep them tight together.

6.      Use a bone folder to burnish the tops of the strips into the sticky strip.

7.      Now use the blue strips to weave every alternate strip.(over, under, over, under etc) When done push all the way to the top as tightly as possible

8.      For the next blue strip weave opposite- under, over, under, over.  (the opposite pattern of the first row) When done, again push strip all the way to the top as tightly as possible.

9.      Continue in this manner until the whole panel is woven.

10.    Next, remove the paper backing on the side piece of sticky strip and press down and burnish.

11.    Repeat on the opposite side.

12.    Repeat on the bottom end.

13.    Now…you will notice every alternate row is not attached at the sides or bottom. Lift up slightly….add a drop of Tombow adhesive and press and hold in place.  Repeat around until all the little flaps are secured down.

14.    Take to your paper trimmer and trim off the excess.

15.    Lay on a silicone mat and press the versa mark ink pad to the top of the “tiles” repeatedly until fully covered.  Add clear embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat set with a heat tool

16.    Repeat step 15

17.    Now you should have a gorgeous super shiny tile background layer!  Add Tombow adhesive generously to the backside and add to the card front.  Hold in place pressing gently but firmly until adhesive is dry and bonded to the card base.  ( this is a heavy and thick layer so we want to make sure it is well adhered)

18.    Now our card is ready for decorating. For this card, I decided to go with a masculine theme.  I also decided to go with no greeting so I could use this card for whatever occasion I needed.  I cut the circles using the layering circles dies.

19.    Stamp the sailboat and the birds in Memento Black ink

20.    Color the images with the alcohol markers

21.    Adhere the greeting layers together with Tombow and add to card front using lots of dimensional (want to make sure it stays stuck to the shiny embossed card front)

Wednesday, April 14, 2021....Stamp With Shel...Around The World On Wednesday Blog Hop- Rainbow Monochrome Challenge.....

Hey, Hey, Hey Stampers!

Welcome to my blog today....we are hopping around the world today with my creative friends over at Around The World on Wednesday Blog Hop.

This month's theme is a bit different.....it is a
Rainbow Monochrome Challenge.  Each time zone in the world has been assigned a specific color.  Then we are to use shades of that color as well as black and white to create our project!  Fun!

My color is yellow.....so.....and because I just got the new in-colors I took a bit of creative licence and stretched the yellow theme to include Pale Papaya..... this is what I came up with:

Don't you just love the Magnolia bundle?!  I am very sad that this beautiful set is retiring!  And I think it looks fabulous in Pale Papaya!

Here are a couple of close-ups:

I wish the glimmer from the wink of stella on the flower would photograph better.....in person this flower is GORGEOUS!

Here is one more look:

TUESDAY APRIL 13,2021.....AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!

This is a letter I just received from Stampin' Up! head office...I am sharing it with you as it affects catalog dates etc.

Although this is disappointing news, I totally understand that this is out of their control; and the decisions they have made that are described below are great decisions -it will be better for demonstrators and customers alike!

Please read:

Upcoming Product Delays

Dear Demonstrator,

We’ve recently been made aware that, due to the current global shipping crisis tied to the COVID pandemic, we are not likely to receive the majority of product inventory for the upcoming July– December 2021 Mini Catalog or July–August 2021 Sale-A-Bration in time for the demonstrator preorder.

After careful consideration—and in consultation with a group of demonstrator leaders—we have decided to push the launches of both publications back by one month to allow time for inventory to be received.

We are sharing this information with you as far ahead as possible; so you can adjust your planning and communication with customers and team members.

Change Details:

  •  The July–December 2021 Mini Catalog will in effect become the August–December 2021 Mini Catalog (though the title of the publication will not change—see third bullet point below).
  •  Preorder:  July–2 August 2,2021
  •  Customer Sales Period: 3 August 2021–3 January 2022
  • July–August 2021 Sale-A-Bration will in effect become August–September 2021 Sale-ABration.
  •  Pre-earn: 1 July–2 August 2021
  •  Customer Earning Period: 3 August–30 September 2021
  •
  •  We are in the final proofing stages of the catalog and Sale-A-Bration publications and will be able to adjust the active dates printed on those items to reflect this change and help limit customer confusion.
  • Please note that we will not be changing the name of the July– December 2021 Mini Catalog (as “July–December” is the official title of the publication)— only the specific active dates listed on the catalog will be changed.
  •  Additional transition information will be available toward the end of May in the Catalog Details page under Happening Now on the demonstrator website. We will post a Weekly Update when the information posts.
Additional Thoughts and Information:
  •  The launch delay will help to limit frustration for both demonstrators and customers by increasing inventory availability and predictability.
  • The upcoming release of the 2021–2022 Annual Catalog provides a great opportunity to focus on those incredible products during the now additional month before the next mini catalog and Sale-A-Bration release.
  • In addition, while we don’t anticipate changing any other announced dates, we’re evaluating business plans during the months impacted by this change for additional opportunities—with demonstrator, customer, and business needs in mind. We will convey any additional information in future communications.

Monday April 12, 2021.....Pansy Petals DSP.....

Hey, Hey, Hey Stampers!  Happy Monday to you!

Today I am here with a follow-up post to yesterday's Facebook Live ( and YouTube) Pre-Order Unboxing.

During the video, I showed you the FANTASTIC new Pansy Petals Suite of products that included the Pansy Patch stamp set, the coordinating Pansy Dies, the Bumblebee Trinkets, and the GORGEOUS Pansy Petals DSP.

Today we are going to talk specifically about the DSP.

A fellow demonstrator, Lois Schuerman has already been experimenting with her DSP and has shared that:

In case you may be wondering how many pansies you can cut out of one sheet of the Pansy Petals DSP, I just used the Pansy Dies to cut one sheet of the DSP and now have:
7 large and 6 small Polished Pink pansies
8 large and 8 small Fresh Freesia pansies
4 large and 8 small Pale Papaya pansies
5 large and 6 small Bumblebee pansies

I just die cut 49 leaves out of a 4x12 strip of the Pansy Petals DSP

This is fantastic news!!!!.....geesh think of all the gorgeous cards we are going to be able to make with this DSP. And to have the coordinating products too! Woot Woot! This is great news!

SATURDAY APRIL 10, 2021....STAMP WITH SHEL GOES BLOG HOPPING WITH STAMPING INKSPIRATIONS .....FEATURING BIRTHDAYS!

Hey, Hey, Hey stampers!

Welcome to my blog today and thank you for joining me as I go blog hopping with my creative stamping pals over at the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop!

This month's theme is birthdays.....and I will be honest....I was having a creative block!  Everything I tried was a total fail.  Do you ever have a creative block?

Well, when that happens to me I either find a sketch to get me started, or grab my catalog and find a sample for inspiration to get my creative juices flowing.

I went to the annual catalog on page 9, and there is a card sample that gave me inspiration....it is the card with the red arrow:

And here is a look at the soon to retire FABULOUS Boho Indigo Product Medley.....this kit is HUGE!

Here is the description of this kit:

Stamps, paper, dies, and accessories for creating whatever you want—let your creativity run free!

Includes:
  •  11-piece photopolymer stamp set
  • 48 sheets of 6" x 6"  Designer Series Paper,
  • Very Vanilla 6" x 6" dry embossed sheets
  • die cuts with gold foil accents
  • Night of Navy 1/2"  Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon, 10 yards
  • Very Vanilla/gold 1/4" Pleated Ribbon, 10 yards
  •  paper flowers, 20 each in 2 sizes;
  • 12-piece Boho Indigo Dies
Colors: Garden Green, gold, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, white

Ok....so here is my card:

As you can see, a few simple changes like an embossed background and a card base that shows behind DSP, changing up the die-cut elements, and adding alternate embellishments gives this card a totally different look.

Now it really helped that I had this FABULOUS kit with loads of options and elements to use.  The only stamping I did on this card was the greeting- crazy eh!

(As I was proofreading this post, I laughed out loud at the "crazy eh" that I typed above.  Nothing like typing a post as if you were speaking aloud!  I was going to remove it, but decided not to....it is me....and I thought you might get a smile or a laugh...so it stays!)

If you wish, I have a video tutorial on this card, and one more made with this FABULOUS that can be found here:

Remember....this kit is retiring.....if you want it .....order now before they are gone!

Until next time.....stay safe my friends

Now hop on over to the next blog for some more creative goodness:
