Enduring Beauty Bundle & Best Family Ever for the Crafty Challenge Blog Hop...

Today I am joining my creative friends for the Crafty Challenge Blog Hop.  This month our challenge was the dice roll.  Our cards were to be funfolds, use in-colors, have a masking technique, use a staple and be about friendship.  Whew! This one was definitely a challenge!

Here is my card:

I made a simple fun fold card using the in-color Boho Blue cardstock and DSP.

The greeting was from the Best Family Ever and I made it into a small banner and stapled it on.

The floral image is from the Enduring Beauty Bundle and I used the masks that come in the bundle to mask and color my images quick and easy using the blending brushes.  I still stuck with the in-colors and chose Sweet Sorbet and Lemon Lime Twist.

I managed to complete the challenge of all five dice!

Now here is MY CHALLENGE to you....can you make a card using the dice roll above?  Please share if you are up to the challenge....I would LOVE to see what you come up with.

Measurements

Card Base 1: 41/4 x 5 1/2
Card Base 2: 8 1/4  x 5 1/4- score 4 & 6 1/8
DSP: 2@ 2 x 5
Basic White for stamping & die cutting 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
Boho Blue for Banner: 2 x 1 1/2

Just Like Magic - Leftover Bits To Beautiful Card....Flight and Airy DSP...

I had two leftover triangular pieces of the Flight and Airy DSP, from this zig-zag fun fold card we made during my Tuesday Night Online Card Class:

I was ready to toss them, and then I heard my Mom's voice in my head...." waste not want not".

So, instead of tossing them, I decided to challenge myself to somehow use these odd triangular scraps.

Here is what I came up with:

  • I used one of the triangles and glued it to a Basic White panel measuring 4 x 5 1/4.
  • I stamped a greeting on the bottom of the panel using Misty Moonlight ink.
  • I mounted this panel on a standard Misty Moonlight card base.
  • I die-cut a circle from the DSP and then I die-cut a scalloped circle from the Misty Moonlight card stock.
  • A few gems and a bow completed this card.
  • For the next scrap triangle, I flipped it over to the other side and glued it to a Misty Moonlight panel measuring 4 x 5 1/4.
  • Then I embossed it with the Basics embossing folder to add some beautiful texture.
  • I glued the panel to a Flirty Flamingo card base.
  • I die-cut a circle from the DSP as well as a scalloped circle from Flirty Flamingo.
  • I punched two leaves from Garden Green card stock
  • You may recognize that greeting as a leftover from my Live video as well.  It was originally mounted on Real Red and I swapped that out for Flirty Flamingo.
  • I did not have any Flirty Flamingo ribbon so I used my Stampin Blend marker to make it the color I needed for my bow.
Since my Mom was the voice in my head telling me not to toss the scraps, I am going to send the What's Up card to her today.  It is really quite fitting because every time we talk on the phone she asks me "What's Up?"  LOL.

What tips do you have to share for using up scraps?

Zig Zag Fun Fold Trio

Last night was my Stamp With Shel Tuesday Night Free Online Card Class.

I shared how to make a super simple wow fun fold called the Zig Zag Fold.

I love this fold because it is easy and it beautifully showcases both sides of our gorgeous Stampin' Up! papers.

Here are my cards:

First up is the Sale-A-Bration free choice Flight and Airy DSP.  This is such a GORGEOUS paper!

This view shows the card standing open

Next up is the Rock Star Bundle found on page 55 of the J2A Mini.

Tip:  Watch the video replay below to learn how I did the greeting.

My final card features the Sale-A-Bration free choice Trusty Toolbox 12 x 12 DSP that perfectly coordinates with the Trusty Tools Bundle found on page 56 of the J2A Mini.

Don't you just love it when SU offers us items that coordinate so beautifully!

OK here is the link to the video replay so you can learn how to make the zig-zag fun fold cards:

How You Can Make It:

To make the card base you will need a piece of double-sided DSP that is 12 inches by 5 1/2 inches.

With the 12-inch side at the top of your paper trimmer, score at 2", 4", 8" and 12"

Mark up 2 inches from the bottom on each end and put a tick mark.

Now put DSP back in the paper trimmer.  Make sure the score line closest to the center of the card and the tick mark are in the cutting track and slice off the triangle. Repeat on the opposite side.

Fold on score lines and burnish.

Add a coordinating color mat layer and a white greeting layer to the inside of the card

Decorate your card as desired.

Challenge:  make one of these cards and show me what you came up with

Come back tomorrow to see what I did with the triangular pieces of DSP that we cut off when we made these cards...😉...waste not want not my Mom always taught me.

Boho Blue for the Monochromatic Instahop...

Today I am participating in the Monochromatic Hop over on Instagram and I thought I would share my card here as well.

Our challenge this week was Boho Blue.

I chose to use the F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S new bundle called Enduring Beauty found on page 38 of the J2A Mini catalog.  This bundle is so cool because it has:

-image and greeting stamps

- coordinating die stamps that also has a tag die to perfectly fit the greetings

- has a set of 5 stencils that perfectly line up over your stamped image so you can super quickly color your image with blending brushes or sponges!!!

Like I said F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S bundle and has cool components!

Here is my monochromatic card:

I used:  Enduring Beauty Bundle, Boho Blue card stock, Basic White card stock, In Color DSP, In Color Dots, Boho Blue Textured Ribbon, Boho Blue ink pad, Blending Brush, Tombow, Adhesives.

The stencils were all inked with the Boho Blue ink just used different pressure on the blending brush to get the varying shades of blue....light pressure on leaves, medium pressure on flowers, hard pressure on flower centers.

Everyday Details...CASE the Catalog...

Today's card features the Everyday Details bundle on page 28 of the J2A Mini Catalog. This page shows the bundle and three card samples made by Stampin' Up! designers.  Here is a peek at the bundle:

In my opinion, this set is a MUST HAVE.  These dies are AWESOME!

This time I did not design my card.  I was having a severe creative block, so I went to the catalog for inspiration and CASED a card I spotted on page 69.

How I changed it up:

1.  I altered the direction for the dies on the mat layer

2.  I altered the placement of my stamping.

3.  I altered the placement of the focal image

4.  I altered the colors.

5.  I stamped my greeting instead of heat embossing

6.  I matted my greeting

7.  I changed the embellishments

8.  I curled my linen thread

9.  I added lots of speckles to my eggs

Ice Cream Swirl Duo for the Sweet Treats Blog Hop.....

Happy Wednesday stampers!

And what a great way to kick off a bitterly cold Wednesday...with ice cream of course!  LOL!

I am participating in the Sweet Treats blog hop today, and I chose the Ice Cream Swirl bundle for my card today.  You can find this fun bundle on page 37 of the J2A Mini Catalog. Here is a quick peek at that bundle:

And here are my cards:

This first card features a delicious strawberry soft-serve ice cream cone- perfect for a birthday card!  I used Orchid Oasis and Basic White for my colors so that the ice cream cone would *POP*

The Rainbow adhesive-backed dots from the Lighter Than Air Suite were a perfect compliment.  I used the Orchid Oasis 1/8" Woven Metallic Ribbon as well.

For my second card I made it a shaped card using the dies in the bundle.  Here is a peek at the inside of this fun card:

Now please hop along our blog hop and see what my creative pals have to show you today:
