From the "waste" comes a thing of beauty. . . and a tip!

Remember yesterday I told you I was going to show you what I made from the waste from yesterday's card.....well this is it!

I took the waste piece of whisper white where I had cut out the flourish for yesterdays card, and used the negative cutout by layering it on colored card stock.  No waste!

Here is a close up again of these two GREAT bundles!

Seriously check out these greetings.....oh yes and I have a tip for you......if you purchase the banner set....stamp your banners on vellum....cut them out with the dies and store them in your stamp case.
That way you can increase the versatility of these banner dies by using them with other stamp sets.....simply place the vellum image over other greetings to ensure they will fit!

You are going to LOVE the wonderful greetings in both of these sets!

Come back tomorrow to see what i did with the "waste" from this card. . .

June Thank You Cards. . . Touches of Texture and Sunburst Sayings. . .

These are some of the thank you cards I made for June orders.

I used the "OH SO AMAZING" new stamp set called Touches of Texture which I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Here is a closeup of the images in this set.....

I am sure I am going to be using this set a lot and in combination with Timeless Textures and Gorgeous Grunge.

Now here is a close up of one of my cards:

And here is a close up and a tip for you....see the little bee image......I colored his body with a gold wink of stella pen and his wings with the clear wink of stella pen.....cute!!

3 Techniques: Watercolor Smooshing Technique ,Baby Wipe Mask Technique, and Heat Embossing. . .

Today I have a triple technique card to share with you.

Before I get started....I must confess that some of the supplies I used on this card are not Stampin' Up! ....but don't shoot me....sometimes a girl has to play with other toys- LOL!

Ok back to my card.

The first technique was what I call Watercolor Smooshing.

I took three ink pads, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Sweet Sugarplum and smooshed some color down onto my craft mat.  Next I spritzed the mat with water...quite a bit maybe ten sprays.  I then floated the color from the mat onto my card stock by dipping the card stock repeatedly to pick  up the colors.

Once this dried completely ( I used heat tool cause I am not a patient gal) I went on with my second technique.

The second technique is what I call Baby Wipe Masking.

I applied a plastic mask ( I chose chicken wire design) and then daubed a babywipe over the openings in the mask.  Where the babywipe hits it removes some of the color leaving the mask pattern.

How cool is this!

Finally I added heat embossing as my final technique and stamped the greeting in versamark and heat embossed using black embossing powder.

I decided to grab my Sweet Sugarplum marker and fill in the larger outlined letters on the stamp.

I thought the card needed a little something so I grabbed my bow punch and added a black bow!

Love You Lots . . .

I created the background for this  card using the Brushstrokes background stamp and Mint Macaron ink pad.

The cute hedgehogs are from the Love You Lots hostess stamp set.

Gift from one of my card class girls. . .

Recently one of the girls in my card class gave me a monogram stamp.

I was really touched by her gesture (thank you Leanne)  and wanted to come up with a not so traditional way to use the monogram "S".

So, in this card I used it to create a background image!  How cool is that!

Once I had my background I decided to go with the black and white theme.

I cut out the happy greeting using the Hello You Thinlet dies and mounted it on Basic Black card stock.  Then I stamped the So Happy For You greeting from the same stamp set and cut it up and adhered to front panel.

I felt it still needed a little something so I stamped and fussy cut the flower from the same stamp set. A candy dot for a pop of color and I was done.

Cool eh!

Big Shot Sandwiches. . . a much needed review to clarify. . . and a video

With the introduction of the NEW Big Shot Platform and Thin Die Adapter, I thought it was time to review how to build the "sandwich".

Now if you are not using the new platform and thin die adapter, but rather the connected 3 piece old system....continue to follow the printed instructions right on that system.

ALWAYS REMEMBER. . . if in doubt. . . STOP!!!!

If it feels too tight when you try to roll your project through the Big Shot. . . STOP!!!!!

Your Big Shot is an expensive tool to replace...and let's face would be lost without it....stop and take a minute to review the instructions, rather than push forward and break your machine.

Ok, here are the rules for the new Big Shot Platform and Thin Die Adapter: (sandwich ingredients are listed from the bottom up)

FRAMELITS (open thin dies) and THINLETS (non detailed thin dies) :

  • magnetic platform on bottom
  • standard cutting pad
  • single sheet of card stock
  • die
  • standard cutting pad
  • New big shot platform with thin die adapter on bottom
  • precision base plate
  • single sheet of cardstock
  • die
  • standard cutting pad
  • new big shot platform on bottom ( no thin die adapter)
  • standard cutting pad
  • single sheet of card stock inside embossing folder
  • standard cutting pad
