I had two leftover triangular pieces of the Flight and Airy DSP, from this zig-zag fun fold card we made during my Tuesday Night Online Card Class:
I was ready to toss them, and then I heard my Mom's voice in my head...." waste not want not".
So, instead of tossing them, I decided to challenge myself to somehow use these odd triangular scraps.
Here is what I came up with:
- I used one of the triangles and glued it to a Basic White panel measuring 4 x 5 1/4.
- I stamped a greeting on the bottom of the panel using Misty Moonlight ink.
- I mounted this panel on a standard Misty Moonlight card base.
- I die-cut a circle from the DSP and then I die-cut a scalloped circle from the Misty Moonlight card stock.
- A few gems and a bow completed this card.
- For the next scrap triangle, I flipped it over to the other side and glued it to a Misty Moonlight panel measuring 4 x 5 1/4.
- Then I embossed it with the Basics embossing folder to add some beautiful texture.
- I glued the panel to a Flirty Flamingo card base.
- I die-cut a circle from the DSP as well as a scalloped circle from Flirty Flamingo.
- I punched two leaves from Garden Green card stock
- You may recognize that greeting as a leftover from my Live video as well. It was originally mounted on Real Red and I swapped that out for Flirty Flamingo.
- I did not have any Flirty Flamingo ribbon so I used my Stampin Blend marker to make it the color I needed for my bow.
Since my Mom was the voice in my head telling me not to toss the scraps, I am going to send the What's Up card to her today. It is really quite fitting because every time we talk on the phone she asks me "What's Up?" LOL.
What tips do you have to share for using up scraps?
Love these cards! Glad I got the FREE DSP!
