Technique Card- Framed Border- Mosaic Madness

This is another card the girls made in July card class.

It features a really simple technique called Framed Border.  You simply stamp images in two of the corners, then use a ruler and a coordinating marker to draw out a framed border.

I used Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock. I used Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Basic Black and Tempting Turquoise Ink. The stamp set is Mosaic Madness (page 123 item #130249 $22.95).

Just a quick reminder that there is a coordinating punch and a coordinating embossing folder that match this set- how fun and versatile!

Now here is today's card:

Clear Block Stampin'- Techniqe Card- Simply Sketched

Today's card features a new technique called Clear Block Stampin.

This is a really simple technique.

You simply touch the edges of a clear block ( all sides) to an ink pad and then use the block as a stamp.  It creates a great background effect for a solid image or outlined image as in this card.

For this card  I used Pistachio Pudding, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black and Whisper White. The image is from the hostess set called Simply Sketched(page 205 item#129672 $12.00) which includes  three great images and three great greetings.  You can earn this set (and more) by hosting a workshop....for more details, ask me how.

A sketch challenge card submission

Today I want to share with you a sketch challenge card I received.

Do you remember this sketch challenge from my July newsletter:

Well here is the great card I received from guest stamper Nicole Orsulak, who has graciously allowed me to post her card:

This is my version of the card challenge this month.
I used so saffron as a base & used the spritz tool with my so saffron marker.
DSP is from the tea for two collection.
I embossed my tag with vintage wallpaper embossing folder.
The sentiment is from the last sale-a-bration catalog.
And the doily is lg suzzlits doily with the outer edge cut off.

I would like to thank Nicolle for sharing her creativity and for inspiring others with her work. I love all the texture and depth of this card- great job Nicolle!

When you are bored....

We have all experienced it....BOREDOM.

Boredom is an emotional state experienced when an individual is left without anything in particular to do, and not interested in their surroundings. Boredom is a condition characterized by perception of one's environment as dull, tedious, and lacking in stimulation. This can result from leisure and a lack of aesthetic interests.

As humans, we eventually "pull ourselves up by the bootstraps" and get moving and find something to do.

But did you ever wonder about our beloved pets.  What do they do when they are bored?.....

Secrets to Perfect Stamped Images

Secrets to Perfect Stamped Images
Use the tips below and get perfect stamped images.

1. Use the right kind of ink for the job:
Knowing what kind of ink will work well on the surface you're stamping on is the first step to clear, crisp images that won't smear. Stazon is for images that you are going to watercolor or for slick surfaces- like the name implies- it stays on. Stampin' Up! Classic Inks are dye based inks for general usage on paper.

2. Make sure you have fully inked your stamp:

verify your stamp is fully inked before stamping your image. Use of a brayer to help you ink large surfaces, or turn your stamp rubber side up on the table and use the pad to stamp.

3. Use your tools:
I cannot stress enough the importance of the Stamp-a-ma-Jig.  Buy it, use it, love it!

4. Positioning:

Stand up, stamp straight down; and lift straight up- do not rock stamps when we place them on our cardstock or lift them up. I like stamping on a piece of fun foam, it gives a little bit of cushion to your stamping surface.  I bought mine at Michaels in large 14 x 10 sheets.

5. Clean your stamps
Clean your stamps immediately after use-  they'll last longer, accept ink more readily, and stamp cleaner images.

6. Condition your stamps

If you aren't happy with the quality of your stamped images, try going over the surface of your stamp with a large eraser, or rubbing on your jeans.  It removes residues and allows the stamp to accept the ink. Clean with Stampin' Mist and a Stampin Scrub and you are good to go!

A striking card, for a happy couple

Summer time ....a most wonderful time....sunshine, flowers, birds and butterflies, vacations and weddings. Ahhhh who doesn't love summer.  I sure do!

This is the second wedding card we made in my June specialty class:

It is a very simple, yet very elegant card.

The card base is a standard size in basic black.

The whisper white mat started as a 4 1/4" x 5" size, then I used a Stampin Up! edgelit die and cut the fancy edge.

Then I used the coordinating embossing folder and embossed the edge.

The greeting was stamped from Word Play stamp set.

The amazing butterfly was cut with a die from Memory Box and attached with Tombow adhesive at the midpoint.

Hope you like it!

For their special day....a beautiful wedding card.....

In June, I held a Specialty Card Class.

In this class the girls made six cards in total, 2 wedding, 2 sympathy, and 2 get well.

Today I wanted to share with you the first of these cards- a gatefold card  (center opening) in basic black.

The dress was cut out of whisper white cardstock with our dress die, and elongated, and I cut a curve with scissors at the bottom edge, then embossed.  I added some  pearls at the neckline and a flower at the waist.

The tuxedo part is simply a basic black triangle with a white triangle (modified) on top.  I  cut these triangles with my paper trimmer.

The bow tie I cut freehand with scissors and then use a hole punch for the center of the bow tie.

A quick coloring of the pearls made this tux extra special. Did you know it is really simple to change the color of basic pearls....simply grab a permanent marker ( I use Bic) and start coloring.

On the inside I put a piece of whisper white cardstock so that there was room to write , and added a wonderful image stamp from the Best of Brides and Babies Stamp set.
