JULY 30, 2019...TUESDAY TIP....FAUX EMBELLISHMENTS....DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that you can use Stampin’ Up! dies and Stampin’ Emboss Powder to create your own faux metal embellishments?

Here’s how:

Step 1. Die-cut three of the die shape you are using for your embellishment.

Step 2. Adhere these three die cuts together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This makes for a stronger embellishment, as one die cut makes it too flimsy.

Step 3. Firmly press your thicker die-cut onto a VersaMark Ink Pad, or place your die-cut face up on some grid paper and press the VersaMark Ink Pad onto your die cut to cover it with ink.

Step 4. Preferably using tweezers, pick up your die-cut piece and cover it with Stampin’ Emboss Powder, remembering to cover the sides as well, and then heat set the powder with your Heat Tool.

Step 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 till you have 3–4 layers of Stampin’ Emboss Powder on your die-cut.

You won’t need any more layers than four as the heated embossing powder will drip off the die-cut if you add any more layers than four.

Step 6. Once your faux metal embellishments have completely cooled, add them to your next project for a fun metallic look.“

July 26, 2019....Bird Ballad Lever Card....

Lever cards seem to be all the rage right now....so yup....I hopped on the bandwagon too....LOL.

I taught this card at my July Cardmaking Techniques Class....and it was a hit with my girls.

The photo below shows the lever.....

I simply ADORE the Free As A Bird Bundle found on page 91 and the coordinating GORGEOUS designer series paper!

Here is a closeup of the bundle:

Aside from the amazing images to color....the dies....oh the versatility and possibilities with these dies....and the stitching goes on the cut out as well as the leftover piece....so if you are careful and smart with your die placement you will pop out your die and cut out and be left with a window for another card! Also the stitches are small circles....not dashes....Cool!

July 25, 2019....Best Catch Birthday...

This is a card I made months ago, for a good friend's birthday. I could not post it as I did not want him to see it before his big day.

He loves to fish so this was a perfect card for him....and I love the 3D aspect of it.

The top photo is with the card closed.....and the bottom folder is with the card open,.

The stamp set featured in this card is Best Catch found on page 150 of the Annual Catalog and the now retired Lovely as a Tree....as well as High Tide found on page 152 of the Annual Catalog

July 18, 2019 # July Simple Stamping Challenge #Designer Series Paper # Simple Stamping

This month demonstrators worldwide have been challenged by Stampin' Up! to create simple stamping cards featuring designer series paper.

This AMAZING new DSP is the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper...item#149500 found on page 167 of the Annual Catalog.

The stamp sets used are Love What You Do page 143 and Butterfly Gala page 46

Here is a closeup of the focal image - simple shimmer using Wink of Stella.

And here is a closeup of the butterfly....simply stamp, punch, Wink of Stella and a few adhesive pearls- EASY!

July 16, 2019....TIP TUESDAY....

Today's helpful tip is one I got from another demonstrator, Debra B. It deals with the problem of kinks and curls in your baker's twine and threads.

The solution:

Yep....you are seeing correctly. Those little square alcohol prep pads the nurse cleans your injection site with.

Fold the pad around the end of the twine and run the length of twine through. The kinks and curls will simply disappear!

Other helpful uses for these alcohol prep pads are

cleaning acrylic blocks
removing glue residue off workspace when you forget to use your silicone mat
cleaning gunk off your scissors

These are a very inexpensive item to have in your craft room. I found a box of 50 at the dollar store! Walmart or pharmacies also carry them and they are very economical.
