I am honored to be hopping around the world with my creative friends at the Around The World on Wednesday Blog Hop!
This month, our theme was Shake Things Up....now that could be taken many ways....I chose to take it literally and make a shaker card!
We were also asked to try something new to us....so since I had made a shaker before I decided to combine a shaker with a technique! I had not done that before. I chose to add the Scrappy Strip Technique! Here is my card:
The stamp set I used was called Pirates and Mermaids and can be found on page 58 of the Annual Catalog.
The images were stamped on Basic White cardstock and colored with Stampin Blend alcohol markers, then fussy cut.
The tag was created with the Essential Tag Punch. To create the black mat layer behind it I sliced a wee bit off the top bottom and sides and then used a 1/2 inch circle punch on the top corners.
I was pleased how this turned out....and was cleaning up my desk and was about to throw away the piece that I had die cut my circle strip background from......and then I had an idea.....why waste it? I challenged myself to make a card from the waste.
Now it is not a shaker....but it could have been.....I popped up the square frame using dimensionals on a Magenta Madness mat layer and stamped the greeting through the center hole.
The greeting is from the Biggest Wish stamp set found on page 63 of the Annual Catalog.
A die-cut frame to contrast the bright colors and a coordinating Basic Black card base made this square card a winner in my eyes!
I chose to keep it clean and simple and let the bright strips shine....no ribbon or embellishment on this beauty!
And here is a look at them together:
Thanks for stopping by today....please hop along to the next blog for some more creative inspiration:
