Well June is finally here!  The Summer Mini Catalog is active and there are some AWESOME stamp sets in it, as well as GORGEOUS  designer series papers suitable for men or women!

The Strength and Hope Campaign is Stampin’ Up’s way of helping find a cure for breast cancer.  They will donate $2.00 for every  Strength and Hope stamp set sold to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  This is a beautiful set and a very worthy cause.  Check it out on the back page of the Summer Mini.

And of course that means I can order my new Idea Book and Catalogue!  Of course I will be ordering some for all my club girls as well.

If you are not a member of one of my clubs, and would like to  purchase a catalogue, they are $11.95 each plus shipping.

I cannot wait to see the new offerings that Stampin Up has for us!  I personally am hoping for a broader selection of punches and dies.  And of course the new  In Colors- I cannot wait to see what they will be this year!   Can you tell I am just a little bit excited???!!

Also this year, the Definitely Decorative will be included in the main catalog.  And the Hostess Benefits Program has been revamped.  Lots of new stuff happening!

Ok, now for the bad news….whenever Stampin Up puts out a new Idea Book and Catalogue, of course some of the products are carried over to the new catalogue, and some is retired. Attached is the list of what is RETIRING.  This means that once their stock is gone….it is gone forever.

Faux Silk Technique

A while ago I saw this card on someone's blog when I was blog surfing, and was instantly drawn to it. The contrast of the black and pink is amazing.  For the life of me I cannot remember whose blog I saw this on.  

The card is very simple and easy to make!

What you need:

tissue paper
glue stick
Staz-on ink
marker
Stamp
Cardstock (trimmed to the size you want for your card)

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of tissue paper, a bit bigger than your cardstock.
2. Stamp image on tissue paper. Then color it in  and crumple
into a ball. Carefully open tissue paper. 
3. Cover cardstock with glue using your glue stick.
4. Flatten tissue paper and adhere to your cardstock, smoothing it as you
put it on.
5. Trim edges of tissue paper.

How to Make Decorative Corners with Regular Punches

Making Decorative Corners with Regular Stampin’ Up Punches and Border Punches.

These are some tricks that will help you to create decorative corners for your cards and scrapbooking.

My punch drawer is lacking in the “decorative corner punch” area… so I decided to improvise.

Take the corner of your cardstock and place it in the scallop edge border punch at a 45 degree angle. Punch it.

Ta da!

Go nuts and see what else you can come up with!

Crimper

All of us have probably used the crimper at one time or another to alter an element for a card, like texturizing cardstock to use as a layer ing piece.

But what about other "Out of the box ideas"?

Use the crimper on the four sides of the card stock to create a frame for the stamped images.

Use the crimper to make realistic looking leaves - fold the cardstock in 1/2 along the vein of the leaf and then crimp at an angle.  When you open the leaf back up there will symetric crimps that meet in the middle.

Make faux suede by using it several times in all directions to peel the cardstock apart.

Crimp the new die-cut leaves (#2) before sponging them.  Crimping gives the leaves a 3-D look.

Use them on long rectangle strips to make french fries - add to a french fry box.

Use for crimping the ends of containers such as the sour cream and pixie sticks holders as it helps to seal the ends.
