How to get out of a sticky situation.....

Ha!  Love the title!

Today's post is actually a mini tutorial on Sticky Strip.  

This super-strong adhesive will hold together a box or pouch like a dream! It won’t lift, curl, distort, warp, or wrinkle. You can also use it to adhere other craft-related embellishments, such as beads, glitter, or embossing powder. ■ Double-sided, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. ■ Acid free ■ 1/4" wide ■ 10 yards ■ Comes in a zippered plastic bag for convenient storage This stuff is the greatest- it has super duper strong adhesive and is great for a variety of different applications.  However, I sometimes have trouble getting the adhesive not to stick to the red liner.  Well here is a quick and easy solution:  Apply your tape as you normally would.   Grab  your bone folder and rub the red liner back and forth a few times, burnishing it, causing the adhesive to soften a bit and  stick to your paper and allowing the release from the red liner.   Then just take the tip of your bone folder, or your fingernail and pick the red liner up from the SIDE, not the end.   Voila!  Hope you enjoyed this tip- come back again tomorrow!

Wild Thing, you make my heart sing...

I made today's card to submit to a challenge on SUDSOL. It is an online sharing forum for Stampin Up demonstrators.  Here is the sketch that was the inspiration behind my card. 

 As I was making it, all I could think about was a stupid song in my head....

Wild Thing....you make my heart sing.... I had that song in my head for hours afterward....too funny! 

This card features the stamp set called Lovely Little Labels on page 105 $13.95 clear.  It features tiny shapes and words to fit inside tiny labels.....how fun!  

The squares were punched with the 1" square punch Page 183 $21.95, and the black mats were punched with the postage stamp punch page 182 $21.95.

The cardstock colors used is whisper white, basic black and real red.  

The ribbon is the 5/8" organza ribbon on page 173 $8.25 for 15 yard spool.

This week I have a special sketch for you.......one sketch......two challenges!  Yep, that is correct- challenge one is to make a card using this sketch....and challenge two is to make a scrapbook page using the same sketch!  How fun is this one?

I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Scallop Dot Ribbon Flowers

Today I have a quick tutorial for you, for ribbon flowers! 

Here is a sample flower in more mustard (sorry my lighting was not the greatest) 

 They are very quick and easy to make using the Scallop Dots ribbon! It is found on page 172 of the catalog.  It costs just $10.95 for a ten yard spool,  and comes in a wide array of colors.

The holes are already in the ribbon, all you have to do is grab a needle and thread and in seconds you will have awesome ribbon flowers.

1.  Start with a 3-4" length of the dotted scallop ribbon. Using sturdy thread sew a running stitch in and out of every hole along one edge.

2.  Sew a running stitch in and out of every hole along one edge as shown in the picture above. 

3.  Pull tight, take a couple of stitches back at the beginning, and knot.

4.  Now cut the thread, or if you wish, you can stitch the raw edges together.  I have also used a glue dot to hold the rough edges together. 

Try it girls!  You are going to love these little flowers!  All it takes is a couple of glue dots to attach these to your card or scrapbook page!

BFF CLASS- PROJECT ONE

I recently held a BFF Class- Bring a Friend for FREE!

The girls got to make one scrapbook page and two cards. This was a great way to try out card making and scrapbooking to see if you liked it.

Well it was a hit!

Here is the scrapbook page we made:

The background is real red and the mats and letters are tempting turquoise.  The stamp sets World Treasures was used for the peacock image which was heat embossed in black and then colored with Stampin Write markers.  The flowers were finished with brads for the centers and a pretty butterfly was added and blinged up!  I also used the retired photo corner punch.

September 2012 Scrapbooking part three.....

This is our third and final page for September Scrapbooking class.

It features garden green cardstock for the background.  Next I took daffodil delight cardstock and sponged it with cherry cobbler, cajun craze and always artichoke ink.  Next I took the craft core early expresso paper and ran it through the big shot with the tree embossing folder. Then I sanded it with the sanding block. I attached two pieces together to form the trunk of the tree and attached it.  Next I used a chocolate chip marker and drew some branches.  I used Autumnfest stamp set and Leaves#2 die to create the leaves.

This was a really fun page to create.

September 2012 Scrapbooking Class part two.....

This is the second of three pages we made during September Scrapbooking class.

This page features letters cut out on the cricut.  Also we used assorted Stampin Up! punches and stamps.

The title, embellishments and some of the mats were created using Poppy Parade cardstock.  The background cardstock is garden green.  Fine strips of cardstock creates the border at the top of the page that resembles ribbon.

This page tells the story about our August 2012 free crop.  My husband was out in the garage working while the girls and I were having a super fun day.  Hayley had brought "fairy cakes"- they are chocolate cupcakes with white icing piped in the top and then two little wings made of cake are attached to the icing.

The photo of my hubby shows him getting caught with his hand in the fairy cake jar-poor guy, I don't bake since all the kids have gone.....

September 2012 Scrapbooking Class part one.....

This first page features a photo of my two handsome sons taken about 5 1/2 years ago.  My youngest son was living in St Anne and my oldest son was visiting from New Brunswick.

To create this page I stamped the greeting with alphabet stamps.
Next I sponged the background piece with chocolate chip ink before stamping it with the more mustard ink using the sunflower stamp. I matted the photo and journalling card on soft suede cardstock.

This page shows that flowers can be used on male pages, quite effectively.

A Special Anniversary Card

Carole has sent us this card that she made for her brother and sister in law for their 45th wedding anniversary.

 The front of the card features a picture of them today.  Carole chose a beautiful stamp from the Word Play greeting set.

The inside of the card features photos from their wedding day- 45 years ago. 

How special is that!

Birthday Invitations for My Grandson

My grandson Richard will be turning 6 years old on October 30th.

His Mom is having a birthday party for him with a Halloween theme, and she asked me to make invitations to send to his friends at school.

Here is what I came up with, what do you think?  Suitable for 6 year olds?

Chat and Challenge Host for SUDSOL....

I wanted to share with you that effective Sept 1/12, I will be hosting Chat and Challenge twice a month on SUDSOL. 

During these one hour online chats, I will be providing a sketch, and the other Stampin Up demonstrators who attend the chat will all create a card or scrapbook page (or both), based on my sketch, while we are chatting online.  After the chat they post photos on SUDSOL gallery, and someone will win a FREE week of membership*.
