3.09.2017...Vintage Leaves CASE.. .

I saw this card online and fell in love.  I knew I hand to CASE it (Copy and Share Everything)

I could not wait to get home from work and get creating....

I changed it up a bit from the original but mostly it is the same because the colors and layout are fabulous as they are.

Then when I tried to go online and find the original I could not find it!!!!

I have searched Pinterest and Google for forty minutes trying to find the creator of the original. So if it is your card let me know so I can link to your original card....it was FABULOUS. And thanks for the inspiration.....I LOVE this card....such non-traditional colors.

3.08.2017...Best Birds Trio. . .

I once again found myself in need of some thank you cards.  So I went into my craft studio to see what I could come up with.

I chose the Best Birds stamp set (found on page 53 item#142315) and made some clean and simple cards.

I stamped the images  and colored them in with Spectrum Noir markers.

I could not decide on what colors so the first one I did was at the bottom....a miss for me....not a good combo.....next i tried the blue hues below.....much better......but my personal fave is the white and brown combo at the top. I guess sometimes less is more...

Sunshine Sayings and Watercolor Wash...

I stamped the background with Soft Sky and the Watercolor Wash stamp set ( page 124 item #139538).

Next I stamped the greeting in Chocolate Chip ink.  The flower images are from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set (page 97 item#141594).

The card base is Wisteria Wonder, as is the Seam Binding Ribbon.

There is a small strip of Chocolate Chip card stock at the bottom behind the ribbon.

The flowers were colored with copic markers and finished off with a Rinestone Jewel ( page 177 #119246)

Butterfly Basics in Kraft and Black. . . and bonus 12 x 12 card stock cutting

I was in my craft studio the other day and realized that I had not even opened the pack of Kraft 12x12 card stock( found on page 175) that I had purchased months ago.

Kraft is darker than Crumb Cake and pairs excellent with black ink. It is heavier than our regular card stock.  12 sheets $8.75

Here are the cards I came up with using the Butterfly Basics stamp set (found on page 113)

Did you know. . . if you change the size of your cards just a tiny bit, and use 12 x 12 card stock you can get three rectangular cards from each sheet.  Each card measures 5 1/4 x 4.

So three cards per sheet x 12 sheets= 36 cards for $8.75=24 cents per card.....wow!

Now for even more fun.....if you change the size of your cards from rectangular to square, and use 12 x 12 card stock, you can get four square cards from each sheet....each card measures 4 x 4.

So four cards per sheet x 12 sheets=48 cards for $8.75=18 cents per card.....double wow!

And that is with Kraft card stock.

If you do it with regular core color card stock you get 20 sheets for $13.75

So three cards 4" x 5 1/4" per sheet x 20 sheets=60 cards for $13.75=23 cents per card

Four cards 4" x 4" per sheet x 20 sheets=80 cards for $13.75=17 cents per card

2.28.2017 Flourish Thinlets Dies

I made this card a while back and forgot to post it....oops.....
SEPARATED V CARD TUTORIAL

Supplies:
Calypso Coral Card Base 8 ½” x 5 ½”
Cupcakes & Carousels DSP 4” x 4 6/16”
Basic Black scrap cardstock for flourish & sprig & small flower
Flourish Thinlet Dies
Calypso Coral Scrap for large flower
Memento Black ink pad
Basic Pearls
Metal Rimmed Pearl
Dragonfly Dreams stamp set
Scrap cardboard from DSP packaging
Tombow adhesive & sponge

Method:

1.       Using scrap cardboard from DSP packaging cut a piece measuring 4” x 4”
2.       Measure up from bottom left corner 1 ½” and make a mark with pencil
3.       Measure up from bottom right corner 2 ¼” and make a mark with pencil
4.       Measure in from bottom right corner across bottom 2 ¼” and make a tick mark.
5.       Put tick marks from bottom to left in track on paper trimmer and slice off corner.
6.       Put tick marks from bottom to right side in track on paper trimmer and slice off other corner.
7.       Now you have created your template that looks like this:

8.       Trace the template onto the BACK side of your DSP and trim along lines.  KEEP THE CUTOFF PIECE.
9.       Glue DSP to card front using snail or Tombow adhesive.
10.   Stamp greeting in v shape.....use a Stamp-A-Ma- Jig if you are nervous of mis-stamping.
11.   Cut flourish, sprig and small black flower using thinlets and scrap black cardstock.
12.   Cut large flower using thinlet and scrap calypso coral cardstock.
13.   Use a glue dot to adhere the large flower temporarily to center front.  ( I rolled glue dot on my jeans to un-tack it somewhat)
14.   I cut my flourish apart and adhered to front of card- the easiest way for me to achieve this is by using silicone mat and putting a dollop of Tombow glue on it...then I take a sponge and tap glue onto the back of the flourish and flower pieces and adhere to card.
15.   Once I had all my flourishes where I wanted them I removed the large flower and glue dot.  I used the same process as above on the flower pieces to adhere them to card.
16.   I finished off the flower with a metal rimmed self adhesive pearl.

17.   Then I added a few basic pearls to the sprigs.
