1.12.2018....Cue the Confetti...

So....here is an AMAZING new product from the 2018 Occasions catalog.  It is the Picture Perfect Party 6x6 Designer Series Paper.  It is 48 sheets of double sided dsp.  One side had graphic images and the other side has photographic images.

As you can see...the photographic images make the card all on its own.

01.11.2018...Bird Banter Birthday...

So today's post features the new Bird Banter stamp set found on page 42 of the 2018 Occasions Catalog.

This is such a fun and versatile stamp set that  is great for many different occasions.  I love the playful greetings and the cute images that are so easy to color!

I messed up and got a smudge of ink on my paper so I had to grab my trusty (retired) spritzer tool and make some splotches all over the background to hide my oops.

01.10.2018...More Brusho Fun....Magical Mermaid...

Ok....I am back today with some more Brusho Crystal ink fun! 

So this time I took a piece of watercolor paper and wet the paper with a water spritzer.  Then I sprinkled on some of the Prussian Blue crystals.  I carefully spritzed a little more to make the ink move more. I am going for a deep ocean look...I wanted a combination of light and dark.  Once I was happy I dried with the heat tool completely.

 Then I added a wee bit of yellow and some more blue.  Then I lightly misted with water to activate the ink crystals.  I set this aside to dry.

Next I grabbed my Magical Mermaid stamp set:

Next I grabbed a scrap of water color paper and stamped the mermaid in Archival Black ink.  Then I colored the mermaid and fussy cut her out.  I used my Wink of Stella glitter pen to give her tail a shimmery glimmery look: 

Once my background was dry I took a paper towel and gently brushed off any loose crystals.

Next I grabbed my Versamark Ink and Black Embossing powder and added the greeting. 

 Then I cut the background to the size I wanted and mounted it on a card base. 

The final step was to adhere my mermaid to the background:

01.09.2018...Brusho Crystal Color....a two-fer Tuesday Tutorial...

 So...I was playing around in my craft room with the new Brusho Crystal Color found on page 26 of the new Occasions Catalog.

Oh my goodness I LOVE this stuff!  It is super-pigmented ink crystals that are activated by water!  There are five containers in a box and the colors are Brilliant Red, Gamboge (orange), Moss Green, Prussian Blue, and Yellow.

The thing I like is that you need so few crystals to make something amazing.

Now when you get these you DO NOT open the lids....you simply pierce a tiny hole in the top and sprinkle .....a tiny bit goes a long way!  I actually pierced mine with tacks and left the tacks as stoppers in the lid.

So my first experiment was to just see what this stuff was all about.  So I grabbed some watercolor paper and had some fun:

I got my brick wall mask and laid it on top of the first piece of watercolor paper.  I sprinkled just a wee bit of assorted crystals over the mask.  Then I spritzed it with water and watched the magic happen! In the first image above you can see how I used too much water and got a blob under the mask....that's ok....don't panic....wait and see.

When I lifted my mask there was a ton of juicy ink color on the mask so I decided to flip it over onto another piece of watercolor paper and it gave me the opposite effect.  Cool huh!

I set these aside and let them dry....for a bit....I couldn't wait too much longer so I helped them along with my trusty heat tool- LOL.

Next I matted the first one and attached it to a card base as shown below:

See...still has the blob effect....but instead of freaking out and tossing it I decided to go with it and see what happened....

I grabbed my trusty Happy Birthday Thinlet die found on page 213 of the annual catalog and some Pumpkin Pie card stock. Here is my greeting: 

Then I attached it to my card front and voila:

A one of a kind cool looking birthday card for a certain young man I know.  

Cool !

So then I went on to the other piece of watercolor paper...and matted it and adhered it to a card base:

Then I grabbed my new Celebrate You Thinlets found on page 17 of the Sale-A-Bration catalog and cut out my greeting: 

Then I grabbed my new  Epic Celebrations found on page 12 of the Sale-A-Bration catalog:

 and stamped and colored the sneaker image and cut it out.  I then adhered them to the card front:

I did not like how the greetings blended in....so I grabbed a journalling pen and added some stitching in attempt to make it pop more....not happy....DID NOT like it 😕...now what.

I walked away....left it sitting on my craft desk....made some coffee....threw in a load of laundry....had my shower and came back to it.   

Still nothing....I was getting angry at myself for gluing down the greetings in the first place as I was not happy with it from the start.

So I decided to check my emails...distract myself some more....got another coffee....and came back to it....yup....those red shoelaces gave me an idea!  I grabbed some scrap Real Red card stock and cut another greeting with the Happy Birthday Thinlet.  I carefully glued the red greeting over top of the existing one and voila!

Now I was happy.  I have two great cards perfect for a young boy's birthday!

And I LOVE the Brusho Crystal Color!

01.08.2018...Special Birthday...

This is a card I made for Mike's Stepfather.  He LOVES cars and when I found this mini 6x6 paper pack with all car related papers I had to get it. 

Since it was non- Stampin' Up! product I decided I was going to use some off brand stamps as well!

It is always fun to play with different products....but I must say the quality was surely evident. 

The designer series paper was soooo thin and flimsy as were the scraps of card stock I used as well. If you look closely at the orange circle you can see how the card stock frayed when cut into the circle shape. 

 I used thick Whisper White by Stampin' Up for the card base to give it some stability.

28.12.2017...3D Thursday....

Today I wanted to share with you a quick and easy 3D project that I will use all year long.....a new calendar for 2018!

I found the calendar printable online for free and printed it off.  Then I used my paper trimmer and trimmed each month to 2" x 2 1/2 " and then stapled them together.

Next I went to my scrap bin and found a piece of Real Red card stock and trimmed it down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". 

I decided to use some of my new designer series papers from the 2018 Occasions Catalog that starts Jan 3....it is called Tutti Fruiti....and is GORGEOUS stuff!  I trimmed it to 4" x 5 1/4".

Then I made a contrasting mat for my calendar pad using the back side of the same dsp!  Love the color coordination.

I grabbed my retired Little Numbers dies and cut out the 2018 and attached them. 

To finish it off I chose Lemon Lime Twist ribbon for a festive bow. 

This bright and colorful calendar will be on my desk at work all year long....LOVE it! 

Oh yeah...almost forgot....so this stands freely I made a little stand for the back side....
-I took a scrap of card stock 2" by 6 1/2" . 
-I scored it at 2, 4, and 6 inches. 
-Next fold it into a triangle and put Tear and Tape on the 1/2 inch part and stick it down so it maintains its triangular shape. 
-Then I simply added more Tear and tape to one side of the triangle and affixed it to the center back of calendar at the bottom.  Voila!
