Do you often think about how much "stuff" we dispose of? I believe we have truly become a disposable society.
I wanted to share with you a little 3D recycling project I made....
You are never going to look at toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls the same again.......who wouldn't want to receive a little gift in this cute box?
All I did was flatten a toilet paper roll and fold in the ends (much the same as our pillowbox dies)
I then flattened it out again and covered it with designer series paper ( I used Tombow)
Once it was dry, I refolded the ends and added a pretty bow with our wonderful new two toned ribbon (love it)
Demo's, this is a great presentation for door prizes....some ribbon, some buttons or brads....the ideas are endless!

Thursday Tool Talk- Punches
Today we are going to talk about punches....yes punches! They are so easy and versatile to use and will last you for a very long time. A great papercrafting investment!
Today I am going to show you what I discovered last weekend.
Look what happens when you combine three scallop circle punches.....
A coffee filter.....
and some ink.....
.....are you ready.......
Paper Roses!
You can make them in various sizes and fullness, depending on the size of the punch and the number of layers.
Simply punch out scallop circles from the coffee filter.....ink the edges......scrunch each piece into a little ball.....unfold and pierce a hole in the middle....stack them together and put a brad through all layers to hold them together.....then fold and scrunch the layers one by one.....voila!
I found that if I only used the 7/8 inch punch it made great rosebuds- give it a try!

TIP TUESDAY & COLOR CHALLENGE CARD
Happy Tuesday Everyone!
For this installment of Tip Tuesday, I am going to feature one of the cards I received in my color challenge a couple of weeks ago.
This awesome card was designed and submitted by Carole Anderson.
Now you might be wondering why I am using a color challenge submission for Tip Tuesday. Well it is because I wanted to point out a few great details on her card.
Notice how she chose to sponge the mat in various colors instead of choosing just a plain colored cardstock background. In my opinion this adds much more visual interest and depth to the card.
Additionally notice that she has sponged the edges of her greeting as well as her focal image- beautiful.
Finally, the two brads add that final touch of pizzazz.
See how evenly she has lined up those brads.....well, here is a tip on how you can achieve that too....use your paper piercer and a paper piercing template to ensure you have perfectly straight and lined up brads! How easy is that!

Tool Talk Thursday- Embossing Buddy
I made some changes to my blog yesterday, trying to make it more user friendly and less bulky. I have changed the categories down to just 11 categories....hopefully making it easier for you to find what you are looking for.
Tool Tip: Embossing Buddy |
Stampin' Up!'s Embossing Buddy (103083) is a must have tool when using embossing powder or glitter.
Before you emboss or applying your glitter, rub the Embossing Buddy over your card stock to remove any static or oils/moisture.
This will prevent your powder or glitter from clinging where you don't want it.
Embossing Buddy - a tiny, little tool that does a lot!

Quickie Wednesday-Sweet Sunflower
This weeks version of "Quickie Wednesday" features a beautiful sunflower card:
Supplies:
Early Espresso Cardstock 4.25 x 5.50
Chocolate Chip Cardstock 4.00 x 5.25
Crumb Cake Cardstock 3.75 x 5.00
Very Vanilla Cardstock 3.50 x 4.75

More Mustard Ink
Sunflower Background Stamp (page 128 item #123608 $16.95)
Ink stamp with More Mustard ink and stamp image on Very Vanilla Cardstock.
Tie ribbon on cardstock.
Adhere layers together as per sample above.
This is such a quick and easy card....but very striking as well. This could be used for a variety of occasions.
I purposefully did not put a greeting on the outside as I was making this for "my stash"- I will put a greeting on the inside when I give it to someone.
If you would like to join us for card classes, you will learn how to make great cards, similar to these. I have card classes twice a month, and scrapbooking classes twice a month. See class schedule on the tab at the top of my blog. Call to reserve your seat in my class- 204-232-7744.
