Northern Lights

Last weekend, after I did a good cleaning, I had some time to "play" in my craft room.

I wanted to try out a new technique I found called Northern Lights.

Now I have never personally seen Northern Lights....but I have seen pictures.

Here is my card:

Personally, I think I was too light handed with the darker blue....I think it needs to have more "darkness"  but still very pretty.

I masked the bottom of the page to create a shoreline and sponged it in Smoky Slate and Marina Mist.

I removed the mask and applied colour with sponge daubers.  I chose Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, Pistachio Pudding and Soft Sky,

Then I took a sponge with Smoky Slate and Midnight Muse and applied in a circular motion.

Then I stamped the tree image from Lovely as a Tree with versamark at the shoreline. I used black embossing powder and embossed it.

The final step is to add "lights" with the white chalk maker.

I still think I need more of the Midnight Muse to block out some of the colors and give more darkness....but am afraid I am going to mess it up....so I will leave it as is.

Why don't you give this technique a try?  It is messy and FUN!
