Shel's Sunday Share
My New Best Friend. . . or is it my worst enemy? hmmmmmm. . . that is a good question!
Today I do not have a card for you. . . or a scrapbook layout. . . or anything crafty. . . today is my rambling about . . . my new best friend, Killer.
Here is his pic:
Last weekend hubby and I stopped at a yard sale (treasure hunting) and I spotted this ancient exercise bike. I checked it over and it looked ok, albeit ancient.
The yard sale was at the home of a totally deaf, sweet old man who wanted five dollars for it. So, I gave him the five dollars and we loaded it into hubby's car.
We took it home and hubby noticed that there was a bolt on the handlebars that needed replacing, which he made short work of. The odometer and the timer even still work.....although the ticking of the timer drives me insane (ya, ya Carole I know, I don't have far to go).
So we loaded it into my car last Sunday afternoon and I delivered my new friend to my office, on Monday morning.
It takes up just 3 feet by 1 foot of space in my office.
Those of you who know me personally, you know that I began daily walking plan in April of 2014.
In the winter time when it was too cold, I walked circles in the warehouse at work (can you say yuck and totally boring), but at least, I was still walking.
Well when I spotted this old bike I had a better plan in mind. . . no more walking in circles in the warehouse on crappy days, or melting on days when it is blistering hot outside!
So I set the bike (Killer) up in my office, next to my radio, beside my magazine collection and across from my fan. The perfect set up!
Now I bike before work. . . at break time . . . at lunch time . . . and at break time in the afternoon. I listen to tunes on the radio and look at my magazines (scrapbooking and card magazines, of course!)
Hubby now calls me rubberlegs (LOL) ! Yeah the legs sure feel like rubber after a ride with Killer.
Yes, my new best friend and I are quite a pair- Killer and Rubberlegs- the spinning duo. . . HAHA!
Each day this week I have done 10 kilometers a day at 40 km per hour . . . not a great distance . . but in the past week I have racked up 50 kilometers, which is 50 km (31 miles) more biking than I did the week before.
And the best news is that because I am not doing it all at once, but rather in small increments (4 km in morning , 2 km at break, 2 km at lunch and 2 km at afternoon break) my knees are having no problems at all!!!!! YEAH!!!!
So yeah, I thought I would introduce you all to my new best friend, Killer (LOL). . . perhaps he and I can get off the rest of the weight I want to lose. 137 pounds gone...30 more to go. Wish me luck!
