November 10, 2020....TILE BACKSPLASH....Lock Down Again and A Fun New Technique...

Hey Hey Stampers!  Happy Tuesday Morning!

I am popping by today with some personal news, and a FABULOUS new technique for you!  WOOT WOOT!

First off, as many of you know, I was in isolation for four days. A co-worker tested positive for Covid-19 which forced me to go for testing last week, meaning I had to self-isolate until I got my test results back. 😟

I was very happy to receive a clean bill of health with a negative test result! 😃 It is scary waiting for that notification!

Sunday night I received information that another co-worker tested positive.   eek! scary!

I was a free woman, and went back to work on Monday, but I was the only one able to go to work... the remainder of the staff were waiting on test results!

What a day!  It was insane....trying to do the job of all coworkers as well as get caught up on my job....plus five phone lines ringing off the hook and lots of customers coming into the store!

Breaks and lunch were non-existent.  By end of day I was exhausted and stressed to the max!

I was never so glad to head home!

On my way home from work, my cell phone rings and it is a Manitoba number but one I did not recognize.  I pulled over and answered the call.

It was Manitoba Public Health, telling me that I had been named as a close contact of someone that had tested positive for Covid-19.  I told her I was aware and had been tested and just received my negative test result the day before.

She then shook my world with her next statements.  She said it was good that I tested negative, but due to the incubation period of the virus, Manitoba Public Health was putting me back into lockdown and I had to self isolate at home for ten days from my last contact; meaning I am locked up AGAIN until Sunday, November 15th at midnight!!!!!!  😭

I am sorry I lost it.  I bawled like a baby.  So FRUSTRATING!  Geesh!  I figured a negative test had cleared me!

So here I am...this morning in a much better frame of mind, but worried about no income.  Worried about the business.  Frustrated at being locked down.

My upline had a great positive response to this...."I see many cards and blog posts in your future"  LOL smart girl that Denise....LOL.

So yes, I am locked down, yes I am frustrated and disappointed and worried, but I am choosing to be positive and think of the creative time, and the organizing and cleaning time I now have that I would not have otherwise had.

As my hubby was leaving for work this morning at 6:30; (yes according to Manitoba Public Health he does not have to isolate) I was acting silly and hanging off the front window screaming "let me out!" "take me with you" "don't leave me" and he was laughing his butt off at me.  Yep trying to be positive!

If you can, please pray for my sick coworkers, and the ones waiting for test results too.

Ok, that's the scoop on me.....now on to some super exciting crafty goodness!!!!

You are going to be amazed and this one!

Ok, a bit of background.  Prior to Stampin' Up! convention I signed up for a Stampin' Business and Creative Expo.  During this event, there were three creative challenges.

I will share the other cards with you later in the week....subscribe to my blog posts on the right to be sure you don't miss them.  Each time I make a post, you will receive an email! Easy!

Today's card is the card I made for the color challenge.  We were asked to make a card using any green and any blue.

Here is my card:

How cool is this!  I even amazed myself with this one.  I decided I wanted to create a tile backsplash look.

So here is how I did it......I cut a bunch of 1/4 inch strips of Night of Navy and Just Jade card stock.

Then on a base piece of card stock 3 3/4 x 5 I ran a strip of snail across the top and alternating colors, I attached the vertical strips.

Then, I did some paper weaving and attached horizontal strips, alternating colors as well.

The key is to keep the weave as tight as possible.

I added Tombow to the ends of each strip to keep in place.  Then it was simply trimming the ends.

I liked it....but it was dull and lackluster.

So I had an idea!

I grabbed my versamark ink pad and thoroughly saturated the top "tile" surface.  Then i sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat set.  I did not get full coverage on my first attempt so I repeated the process.

I wish I was able to photograph this so you could really see all the beautiful shine.  It truly does look like a tile backsplash!

I hope you enjoyed today's card and challenge you to make one of your own and share it with me.  Happy Stamping!
