Last night I did a small unboxing video on my Facebook Business page. I was showing a few extra products I received from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog that goes live in May. (if you wish to see this video please go to Facebook and search @StampWithShel)
Today I wanted to share a card I made using some of those new products combined with some old (current) products.
One of the products showcased last night was the FABULOUS new Basic Borders dies. This is a stand-alone set of dies that has six different dies! These are all FABULOUS!
I will be honest with you, I immediately was excited about five of these dies....but one of those dies did not impress me much. At first glance, it looked like an uneven blob. I wondered what in the heck were they thinking when they made this die?!
Well....I quickly ate my words when I realized that this was a CLOUD DIE! It can cut clouds but I wanted to use it with my blending brushes and Balmy Blue ink to create a cloud background.
Here is my card:
My card base is Evening Evergreen with a Real Red mat layer.
The tree with the two-step stamped tree is from the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G new suite found on page 10 called Beauty of the Earth. Check out the detail in the tree foliage....completely done with just the two-step stamp!
The deer is from the current stamp set called Rustic Retreat found on page 57 of the 2020-2021 current annual catalog.
The birds are from the current stamp set called Sailing Home found on page 31 of the 2020-2021 current annual catalog
The deer was colored with Soft Suede light and Crumb Cake light Stampin' Blends
The grass was hand drawn with Evening Evergreen Light and Soft Succulent light and dark Stampin' Blends.
Shel's FYI.....
Did you know there are five NEW stand-alone die sets in the new Annual Catalog?
They will work with tons of stamp sets....but are not bundled with any stamps:
Page 165 Stitched Greenery (GORGEOUS)
Page 164 Picture This ( OMG fun!)
Page 163 Iconic (MUST have!)
Page 163 Flower Market ( very cool)
Page 162 Basic Borders (MUST have!)
Today I am here to share with you two cards featuring the GORGEOUS Peony Garden Suite, found on page 84 of the 2020-2021 Annual catalog.
My cards feature the Peony Garden DSP as well as the stamps from this bundle.
Note that this stamp set is carrying over on page 73 of the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual catalog and the dies will be found on page 164 - unfortunately not as a 10% off bundle but as individual items. So if you want this bundle and want to save 10% order now!
Also, the GORGEOUS DSP and the dainty diamonds embossing folder are not carrying over.....but the vellum square doilies, the elegant faceted gems, and the shimmer gray granite ribbon will be.
This stamp and die set are a beautiful addition to your collection. You seriously do not want to miss out on this Gorgeous set.
Today's fun fold cards are called book fold. Here are my cards:
I got the idea for this card while taking part in a
challenge and designing my card for that challenge. My idea involved weaving
strips of paper to form a background. This is the card I made for the
challenge:
So while I was making this I thought it would look
really cool with plain card stock and if I could make it shiny to look like a
tile backsplash…..so this is the card I came up with using ¼ inch strips of
card stock:
And here is the card I made today for the video
tutorial using ½ inch strips of card stock:
Supplies
Needed:
½ inch strips of cardstock in color of your choice
Card Base: 8 ½
x 5 ½ scored 4 ¼
Mat Layer: 4 x
5 ¼
Card Liner: 4 x
5 ¼
Layering Circles Dies
Black, Blue, and White cardstock to cut circles
Sailing Home Stamp Set
Memento Black Ink
Stampin Blends (or other alcohol-based marker)
Bone Folder
Adhesives (Tombow, Sticky Strip, Dimensionals)
Die Cutting Machine
Silicone Mat
Versamark ink
Clear Embossing Powder
Heat Tool
Instructions:
1.
Fold card base on the score line and burnish flat with
bone folder.
2. Add white card liner to the inside of the card using Tombow adhesive.
3. Add sticky strip (score tape) to the perimeter of mat layer and burnish with
bone folder.
4. Remove the paper backing off the top strip only.
5. Add black strips of card stock across the panel – make sure you keep
them tight together.
6. Use a bone folder to burnish the tops of the strips into the sticky strip.
7. Now use the blue strips to weave every alternate strip.(over, under,
over, under etc) When done push all the way to the top as tightly as possible
8. For the next blue strip weave opposite- under, over, under, over. (the opposite pattern of the first row) When
done, again push strip all the way to the top as tightly as possible.
9. Continue in this manner until the whole panel is woven.
10. Next, remove the paper backing on the side piece of sticky strip and
press down and burnish.
11. Repeat on the opposite side.
12. Repeat on the bottom end.
13. Now…you will notice every alternate row is not attached at the sides or
bottom. Lift up slightly….add a drop of Tombow adhesive and press and hold in
place. Repeat around until all the
little flaps are secured down.
14. Take to your paper trimmer and trim off the excess.
15. Lay on a silicone mat and press the versa mark ink pad to the top of the
“tiles” repeatedly until fully covered.
Add clear embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat set with a heat tool
16. Repeat step 15
17. Now you should have a gorgeous super shiny tile background layer! Add Tombow adhesive generously to the backside and
add to the card front. Hold in place
pressing gently but firmly until adhesive is dry and bonded to the card base. ( this is a heavy and thick layer so we want
to make sure it is well adhered)
18. Now our card is ready for decorating. For this card, I decided to go with
a masculine theme. I also decided to go
with no greeting so I could use this card for whatever occasion I needed. I cut the circles using the layering circles
dies.
19. Stamp the sailboat and the birds in Memento Black ink
20. Color the images with the alcohol markers
21.
Adhere the greeting layers together with Tombow and
add to card front using lots of dimensional (want to make sure it stays stuck
to the shiny embossed card front)

Although this is disappointing news, I totally understand that this is out of their control; and the decisions they have made that are described below are great decisions -it will be better for demonstrators and customers alike!
Please read:
Upcoming Product Delays
Dear Demonstrator,
We’ve recently been made aware that, due to the current global shipping crisis tied to the COVID pandemic, we are not likely to receive the majority of product inventory for the upcoming July– December 2021 Mini Catalog or July–August 2021 Sale-A-Bration in time for the demonstrator preorder.
After careful consideration—and in consultation with a group of demonstrator leaders—we have decided to push the launches of both publications back by one month to allow time for inventory to be received.
We are sharing this information with you as far ahead as possible; so you can adjust your planning and communication with customers and team members.
