CASE-ing Wednesday...

 Case-ing Wednesday...

What is Case-ing you might ask.  

That is when you see a card online that really speaks to you, that you want to make.  

Since it is not cool to copy someone else's work....we CASE.  Copy And Selectively Edit. 

This way you use the idea, but make the card your own, AND give credit to the original artist. 

Here is the card I saw that I LOVED! 

This card was made by Jolanda Johnstone at Inque Spot Studio.  

It really spoke to me.  I LOVED the "artsy fartsy" (a very specific Shel term) aspect to this card.  

So I set to work to re-invent this card....here is what I came up with: 

I chose a black card base to match the black stamping and the marker outlines and to pop against the white watercolor papers

Small rectangles of bright ink were painted onto watercolor paper with a Water Painter brush.  This layer has to be COMPLETELY DRY before you continue.

Small stamps from various sets were used and stamped multiple times (because the watercolor paper is bumpy, not smooth) with the stamparatus and Memento Black ink. 

Images were colored with Stampin Blends.

A black fine-tip permanent sharpie was then used to draw squiggly lines around the rectangles.

Check out this beauty designed by Carole!  That color is GLORIOUS!

I love all the texture and the fun DSP patterned circles for added dimension!  

I have seen similar cards, but never where the die-cut circle is added as embellishment to add more dimension.  VERY CREATIVE Carole!  Well done!

CASE-ing Monday- Rhino Ready- Online Exclusives

 Trying a different type of fractured card today using the Rhino Ready bundle from the Online Exclusives.  

• I simply took a piece of Basic White card stock and stamped the Rays of Light Stamp on it.  
• Then I stamped the greeting and grass from the Rhino Ready stamp set using Memento Black ink.  
• Next, I cut up the background into various rectangles and then glued them onto a Basic Black card base.  
• Finally, I stamped the rhino image and colored him with Stampin' Blends.  

I like how this card turned out....the fractured pieces add interest and dimension.

Sea Turtle Fun Fold....

 Today it is all about the fun fold....and of course, the Sea Turtle stamp set!

TIP OF THE WEEK...

 

This week's tip is how to create an easy ribbon banner.  

This looks lovely behind stamped greetings and makes them pop!

Here is how to do it:

Now you may be wondering how to adhere this to your cards...

For me, it depends on the width of the ribbon.  

My favorite is Tear N Tape if the ribbon is wide enough....but if not...simply use Mini Glue Dots. 

 

I like to put Tear N Tape directly on the backside of the ribbon....I get it started, pull the ribbon smooth and tight, and then apply the rest of the tape....this way, there are no wrinkles and everything is nice and straight.  

Then just rip off the protective paper and add it to your card!

 

Festive and Fun Internal Accordion Fun Fold...

 

During last night's Stamp With Shel Facebook Live I showed you how to make and Internal Accordion Fun Fold card.  It looks like a regular card from the outside......but the inside shows that the front and back are not even attached!

Magical Meadow!

 

Last night I did a Facebook Live where I showcased a GORGEOUS new suite called the Winter Meadow Suite. The suite has the following items:

Gatefold Card- How You Can Make It:

Supplies:

Magical Meadow Bundle

So Sincere stamp set

Blueberry Bushel card stock

Shaded Spruce card stock

Basic White card stock

Blueberry Bushel ink pad

Deckled Circles Dies

Gold Swirls Embellishments (online exclusive)

Gold and Vanilla Satin Edge Ribbon

Blueberry Bushel Stampin Blend markers

Tombow, Glue Dots, Stampin Seal 

Paper Trimmer, SCEM machine, Take Your Pick Tool, Bone Folder, Blocks

Measurements:

Card Base: Blueberry Bushel: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 score 2 1/8 from each end

Card Liner: Basic White: 4 x 5 1/4

DSP: Winter Meadow: 2@ 5 1/4 x 1 7/8

Large Circle: Shaded Spruce

Medium Circle: Blueberry Bushel

Small Circle: Basic White

Greenery: scrap Shaded Spruce and Scrap Vellum

Instructions: 

1. Color the ribbon with Blueberry Bushel Blends and set aside to dry. 
2. Fold the card base on the score lines and burnish it flat with a bone folder.
3. Add Basic White card liner to the inside with Tombow. 
4. Add DSP Panels to the outside flaps with Tombow
5. Die cut circles and greenery.
6. Stamp the greeting in Blueberry Bushel ink on Basic White Circles. 
7.  Layer the circles together with Tombow. 
8. Add Sticky Strip or Stampin Seal to ONLY HALF of the largest circle.  Add greenery to the back of the circle.  Again add Stampin Seal to THE SAME HALF and attach to ONE GATE of the card. 
9. Embellish with bow and Gold Swirl Embellishments

Tip:  Add DSP to the flap of your envelope for a coordinated look!
