More Cards from Convention

I have received tons of photos from fellow demonstrators who are fortunate enough to be at Stampin Up Convention.  I shared some with you yesterday.  Here are some more cards from convention to share with you today.

Doesn't the stitching just accent this card beautifully, and check out the triple border punches at the bottom!

 And here is one for my friend Carole, that torn distressed look she so loves plus machine stitching....I cannot wait to see her take on this card!  (Yes Carole that is a challenge!)

Designer series paper plus a stamped background- what an idea! and LOVE the spotlighting and the multilooped bow is to die for!!!

And here is my personal favorite from today's convention samples!!! Don't you just LOVE the butterfly BFF card- GREAT IDEA!!  I can't wait to get home from work and try my take at this one!

Stampin Up Convention 2011

I sooo wish I was able to go to convention(sigh).  I have heard somany wonderful things and have had soooo many photos sent to me (sigh)...oh well maybe next year.

Problem with paper sticking in dies.

Have you ever had trouble when using dies and your Big Shot with the paper sticking in the die or the sizzlet?  

I have had this problem in the past with the little leaves sizzlet and yesterday with the Beautiful Wings sizzlet. I think it is the tiny cutting area that is the culprit.

I was frustrated because they of course tore and bent trying to get them out.  I was thinking that if only I had something that was non stick. 

So, an idea popped in my head, and I grabbed a bounce sheet and put in in the die and ran it through my Big Shot.  

Guess what!  It solved my problem! The paper did not get stuck in the sizzlet! What a simple and inexpensive fix! 

I thought I would share this tip with my readers, in case you ever have issues like this. 

My Grandaughters Baptism Gift.

I am blessed to have three happy and healthy grandchildren, Richard 4 1/2, Noah 2 1/2 and Brielle 2 months.

Here is a closeup of the newest addition, and my first granddaughter.

Brielle's baptism is coming up mid July, and I have been planning her gift.  Like her brothers she will get the bank account set up, so that when she turns 18 she will have a nest egg to begin her adult life.  Also, she will be getting a gift of gold, and I wanted to make something special to store her jewels in.  Every little girl needs something pink and frilly with bling and satin and pearls. 

This is the jewelry box  I came up with:

 It started as an unfinished wooden box from Dollarama, which had all the hardware removed andwas painted gloss white.

 Then it was "prettied" up with silk flowers, pearls, eyelet lace, satin ribbon, and heart shaped blinged ribbon slide.

Rick Rack Tutorial

Have you ever bought expensive rick rack trim to use in your card making or scrapbooking?  It can add a fun decorative element, but it can be really expensive too.

Well this tutorial will show you an easy way to make your own rick rack trim.  And the bonus is that you can make it any color you desire, or even use designer series papers to add some zing. 

Here's how:

        Take a piece of cardstock in desired length and desired color. 

         Grab your scalloped edge border punch. (Item #119882 pag 210  $20.95)

Punch down one side of cardstock as you normally wood if you were creating a border.
When you are done this step you will have something that looks like this:

Now, flip the piece over.  We are going to punch the other side as well.  However, we need to offset the punches.  Meaning that where there is a hill on one side, we will need to have a valley on the other side.

Punch across the entire side. You will have something that looks like this:

There may be a couple of imperfections you need to trim up with your scissors.This piece was made with a 3/4 inch piece of cardstock.   The photo below was made with a 1/2 inch piece of cardstock.

Easy, inexpensive and fun way to add interest and dimension to your cards and scrapbook pages!
