3.24.2017...Hello You Thinlets and Crazy About You

I was playing in my craft studio last weekend and I had a scrap of DSP left over ...so of course I had to make a card with it.....this is what I came up with using the Crazy About You stamp set and Sunshine Wishes Thinlet dies:
I tend to lean toward purchasing greeting stamp sets that are more versatile...and this one sure fits the bill....and as an added bonus has three image stamps to go with it!

3.22.2017...Builder Birdcage Beauty...

I was playing in my craft studio on the weekend and decided to ink up a stamp set that I have never used.  It is called Builder Birdcage and is found on page 36 of the Occasions Catalog, and has a whopping 16 stamps!

Just imagine all the combinations you can come up with....and I see a chandelier....do you see it too?  Just flip the stand upside down and add the "lights" image above it.  The possibilities are endless.

This was a very quick and easy card to make, and I love how crisp and clean looking it turned out.

3.21.2017....New Ink Blending Technique...

I was lurking about the internet the other day and I came across a new ink blending technique I just had to try.

Apparently ( un-be-knownst  (ha ha) to me) there are brush tools out there in the marketplace specifically for ink blending.   And they are pricey!

Well I love my sponges and daubers...but I was up for a new challenge....but I just did not want to spend the money for the brushes...

So...I went in the bathroom and grabbed an old makeup brush...and went to work.

The inks I used were Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, Tangelo Twist, Flirty Flamingo and Rose Red.

I loaded the brush with the daffodil ink and just started off the paper and kept brushing lightly side to side.

A juicy ink pad works best and it is time consuming....but it blends flawlessly and there are no sponge marks or oopsies ( ha ha)

The greeting and image were cut out of black card stock using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlet Dies.

The ribbon is Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon.

So the only problem I had was with the brush bristles falling out in my ink pad.  I have done some further investigation and learned that other crafters who had this problem were using natural bristle brushes ( as was I)

Sythetic brushes are the way to go....Elf brand from Walmart seems to be the most used brand. Next time I am there I am going to pick one up....they are only about $3....
