I am honored to have been asked to be part of the design team, for the #StampingDiversity Blog Hop.
Today, the design team will introduce ourselves, explain why diversity is important to us, and share a project with you!
My name is Shel Anderson and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 12 years.
Diversity is very important, as it gives us opportunities to experience different cultures and experiences; and learn new things.
To me personally, diversity also goes hand in hand with inclusiveness. Let's face it, it feels really horrible when you are excluded/shunned/left out!
I remember when I was a young girl, I was being bullied and made fun of at school, and I was excluded from a sleepover and was very hurt.
I was visiting my paternal grandmother, (who I was extremely close to), and we were talking about what had happened to me.
I will NEVER forget that day or what she said to me as she wiped my tears and told me to remember the moment and how I felt....and then she told me to ALWAYS treat others the way I would want to be treated.
I am 60 years old now and I have never forgotten that day or her wise words. I have tried to live my life by treating others right and always being inclusive.
Just as I have my own likes, hobbies, skills, traditions, experiences, and beliefs...other people have theirs as well as different backgrounds and different cultures.
Let's just embrace and appreciate our differences and learn and grow stronger together!
Ok....that is my personal reason for participating in this #stampingdiversity design team and monthly blog hop.....now on to the creative part.
